Brad Hawpe in a pitcher's park

I have to say you have one strange league. Look at all those frontline starters available: Peavy, Shields, Sabathia, Hudson, etc. Plus Putz, Saito, Isring, Betancourt.

I think you have a legit team, but that probably gives you the kiss of death. Sorry. I'd think about how you want to spend the rest of the money you have on the table. I'm not sold on Gorzelanny, personally. I'd probably rather have Garland, who you could afford (I think). With three lefties in the pen, I'd prefer to have a bit more balance toward righthanders.

Of course you could also try to make a play for one of those frontline starters and re-org your bullpen (Owings and Fultz for cheapos; Schroeder for an R1 righty, or something to that affect). Riding Verlander, Hudson, Smoltz, and Wainwright with Wagner eating innings on the back-end ain't too shabby. Just something to ponder if you have too much time on your hands.

Good luck!

Who doesn't on a wintry Saturday

Ha Ha.

Yes, given the preponderance of Pitcher's parks, you mke a good point.

Pitching-wise, I am still loking for some changes. I am probably going to release O'Flaherty for either Wuertz or Miller. One of the teams in my division can field an enmtirely LHB line-up counting any SHBs so Gorzo is a little security blanet for me.

But I am still looking to upgrade my SPs.

Thanks Rant.

I'm an unabashed O'Flaherty fan. I think he's one of the better values in the set.

Hawpe in Petco after 123 games

Postby TomSiebert » Sun Dec 07, 2008 11:17 am

298 AB in a platoon with Clark, including a couple injury stints, one for 8 games:

.295 / .385 / .517
31 doubles
11 HR

I also like his (-3) in RF with my starting staff of straight RHers.

Am I getting my money's worth? Beats me. I'm tied for third (or last, depending on whether you're a glass half full or emply guy), four games back in Tour League 6.
