Range ratings for new set

[quote:05cb620dda="thisisray"]i think a bunch of people working for the phillies are handing out the ratings.[/quote:05cb620dda]

Do you mean the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies?

Not sure which you disagree with. Utley as a 2? Rollins and Vic deserve 1s. Burrell deserves his 5. Werth seems right at 2 - 3 - 2 in the OF. Howard has the range to be a 4. His fielding is what kills him. Ruiz has his faults, but a move up to 2 is not unwarrented. No other surprises there.

Or were you just saying that the people handing out the ratings are the best?

actually was just saying because wright got a 2. we all know how the phillies hate the mets. the ratings for the phillies seem to be correct. no complaints there. just trying to figure out why david wright can't get his 1 that he deserves.

[quote:3d3a61676a="old__toriihunter"]Anyone know what the "REG", "COMP", and "MIX" designations mean for certain? I'm guessing any "REG" will be in the online game, "MIX" is clearly players who were on multiple teams, and "COMP" is Cd-game only. Jose Mijares of the Twins is a "COMP" and that makes sense given his sub .50 WHIP...would be too powerful in online Strat.

Dickerson and Cruz are both "REG" rated, by the way.[/quote:3d3a61676a]

Remember the cards are designed for the board game first, here's what they mean:

Reg: Regular Team Cards
Mix: Mixed Player Group (players that played on more than 1 MLB team)
Add: Additional Player Cards ( seperate set not available with the teams cards)
Comp: Computer Player Only (no printed card)

Wright and the rest of the Mess must have had their ratings discounted because of the "choke" factor. :D

Just a little dig from a Phanatic. Wright is a helluva player.

Do the players with "REG" historically receive a card in online Strat?[/quote:20906e7c4b]

Yes, but again, if the card is deemed to unbalanced even if it has more than 100 pa's or 25 ip's it can still be excluded, like Jacoby Ellsbury was this year.

Two questions for those who know more about this than I:

1) Who are the most likely candidates for exclusion, like Ellsbury was this year.

2) When do the ballpark ratings come out?

Thanks in advance.

Pablo Sandoval of San Fran comes immediately to mind.
But again there are no hard fast rules except that COMP players will definlty NOT be in the TSN game.
If you know of a hitter that has exceptional stats to one side or the other or both and is under 200 pa's chances are he may get excluded. By exceptional it means that if he played over a full season and got 550+pa's, would the results be that he leads the league overwhelmingly in HR's batting avg, or slugging, this is usually what gets a guy dropped from TSN Strat.
Now why they just don't balance it out by leaving the card in a using a very high salary I don't know, but they don't.

Pitchers are different, they usually exclude anyone with less then 25 IP reguardless, but they may let a guy with less through if his card is average to bad.

Who are you worried about? post it here and I can give you a guess, but again there's no telling for sure what TSN will do it's a crap shoot based on pre-relases playtesting.

Usually when the ratings book is released in mid January.

and you are welcome

I guess the ones I'd be most interested in are:

Russell Branyan
Raphael Furcal
Nelson Cruz
Anderson Hernandez

Most are in the 80-150 AB range. Would Furcal's injury make him more likely to have a card? Anyway, thanks.
