Never had a ratings disk either, takes the fun out of research, which for pre-season, is 95% of the fun in SOM. I've done ok without it.

As someone who has used the book, I would recommend it. If you really want a little extra edge, and to save time counting chances, the book is extremely useful. There is nothing like looking at a Strat Card, but unless you are real fast with your counting, they can be deceiving, and that is where the ratings book(my preference) or disk, can help . It is a bargain for the serious player.

Actually, I disagree. The serious player wouldn't use the book :D :D

Joking actually, I'm sure it's a good tool. Just that someone with no life like myself loves spending the extra time figuring it out longhand (and with DD)

There are serious players who would say cards and dice, face to face are the only way to go. So it really is to each their own, but the book saves me time. I still like looking at the cards.

"I can safely determine on my own that a player with hits on a lot of 7, 8, and 9 rolls is a good player to "roll" with."

hrmmmm...I gotta try out this strategy.
