18-18 so far. Encouragingly (or discouragingly??), my pythag has me at 21-15. I think the combo of high DP chances (as Palmtana noted) and no one slugger (as Vis noted) is holding me back right now. I think I'd only need to fix one of those two to put me over the .500 threshold, but kinda tough to figure out where to make that move.
One change I did make today, was to put Corpas at setup and closer, to try and get him more innings; however, not sure how much that will get me given the success of Moylan and Franklin already.
May wait out a few more games to see where I'm headed...

Not sure how much value you'll get by making moves with an 80% drop. Moving Kotchman or Kemp might be where I'd look, but for whom? Probably need to drop to 14 hitters and drop Franklin or Moylan for a cheapo, ride your starters and two relievers. Maybe target a high-risk, high-reward like Milton Bradley who fits your team.

Kind of my sentiments too. Really only moves I'd contemplate would be via trade at this point. I put out an offer trying to swap Keppinger for Figgins, trying to avoid some DP's, but the owner wants to wait on that.
23-19 now, so maybe this time has enough of what it takes. We shall see...

OK - so 47-37 now, still in first, just past the half-way mark of the season.
The run production has dropped off, but a lot of that can be attributed to a rash of injuries I've had...still, it does give me some research info to tweak future small-ball teams.
Biggest Disappointments so far:
[b:d1999b635b]Rajai Davis[/b:d1999b635b], as Vis had warned - Sub .200 average and only a .320 OBP
[b:d1999b635b]Matt Kemp[/b:d1999b635b] - .281/.315/.380...may not sound TOO shabby, but his card is pretty independent of ballpark effects, so I'm hoping for the dice to roll in his favor the second half of the season.
MVP so far:
[b:d1999b635b]Peter Moylan[/b:d1999b635b] would probably take that title at this point. 2.70 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 76 innings, has been great out of the pen.
[b:d1999b635b]Jeter [/b:d1999b635b]and [b:d1999b635b]Keppinger [/b:d1999b635b]have played to expectations, but [b:d1999b635b]Tike Redman[/b:d1999b635b] probably would qualify as the most pleasant surprise on offense, even though he only plays versus righties. Primarily his .536 SLP earns him this reward.
Anyway, a lot of season left, gotta stay healthy!!

Agree on the Redman assessment. Has anyone had Kemp live up to his card? Seems like he should have a bit more power than I've seen, but only times I remember seeing stats from him he's at about .290 .320 .380.

Well, sub .500, out of the playoffs...started out promising, but had a big second half slide.
Redman dropped off measurably...he along with Raj Davis (who was bad all year), and the many injuries incurred, really hurt (no pun intended :lol: ).
It was fun to manage though, and I have a few other small-ball teams I've since created and am seeing some success with, after tweaking based on this first team's experience.
I think one or two sluggers is the missing ingredient. All that matters in the end, offensively, is the runs produced, but hard to sustain if you're depending solely on high OBP. I'll post a couple of my subsequent squads over the weekend (firewall prevents me from linking them from work :x )
