Josh Hamiltom in 2007

Hamilton (7R) has an injury rating of 4 in 2007. I am at GABP and my division has all RHP starters except for one LHP. I thinking of giving him a try and hope he only goes down once or twice. I am trying to weigh risk of injury vs production. I would use him in RF or DH. There are several options in the $4.5mil range but they do not hit RHP as well. Has any one used Hamilton for a full season with success?

I'd say go for it. Hamilton can post some big numbers in GABP, so as long as your team isn't depending on many other injury risks you'll probably be fine. Definitely play him in RF for that (-3) arm, and make sure to have a decent back-up. I like Rajai Davis in this situation. He should play instead of Hamilton against LHP, has a lot of OPB for the money, and is a great pinch-runner when Hamilton is healthy.

Thanks, I ended up going for it. I put Hamilton in RF and have a LH/RH DH combo at DH consisting of RF's Murton and Gross so I can move one of them to RF if JH hits the DL. I will update the post during the season to let you know if it is working.

I loved Hamilton's card in this year's set. Relatively cheap for the production you get, and Rajai Davis is, in fact, a great back up for Hamilton - or anyone else. I'd be interested in seeing a link to your team so we can watch how Hamilton does in GABP against all those righties! Good luck.

I like the makeup of your team. That infield defense should help you make your opponent earn their runs (aside from Encarnacion, but with Rollins and Hudson up the middle, and Ramon Martinez as a defensive replacement, I think he's okay).

Good balance of righties and lefties in the lineup. Hamilton should come up huge for you, because I think your division opponents will be more worried about grabbing righties to counter Matt Holliday.

The only concern I have, and I know you didn't ask, is that all of your relievers are R1 (except for Russ Ortiz, but I doubt he's a guy you want used very much anyway). If possible, a decent long reliever might help you in the long term. Just my thoughts.

In that park, in that lineup, I think Josh Hamilton should be a very productive hitter when healthy. I've used him in the past, and he does get banged up but he only missed a handful of games at a time for me. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I have also thought about the long relief. I was going to see how the season starts. I have all of my starters on slow hook. I have Jenks on closer and setup. My thoughts are Smith in the 6th, Lindstrom in the 7th and Jenks in the 8th and 9th with Yates and Ohman feeling the gaps if needed with Ortiz mopping up. That is if HAL thinks the way I do :lol: . I might replace Ortiz with a more balanenced SP/RP.

Just keep in mind that if HAL thinks the way you do, you should keep that to yourself. There seem to be quite a few people around here who would want to slap you. :lol:

First game of the season, Hamiltonis 0-3 and injured for 15 games. I guess we will get this out of the way ASAP. :x

I finally had to drop Hamilton. He was almost always hurt. He only started and completed 10 games. Injuried in or out of 23 games. :x

This team is cursed. Tons of injuries, poor hitting and timely errors. I had to make changes before the season was lost.
