Bad Sportsmanship, Opportunistic Move, Foul Play?

Was this an experienced manager being opportunistic or an example of poor sportsmanship?

[quote:684bd4833e="FAaron"]I don't know if it is possible, but maybe they should change the trade rules to provide if a trade isn't accepted in a week, it is automatically rescinded. It just seems to be a problem that with many of us managing multiple teams, it could happen to anyone that forgets that he has a trade offer hanging out there that hasn't been replied to, especially in a mystery card game.[/quote:684bd4833e]

They use this function in other fantasy sports leagues on other websites, so I'm sure it's "possible". There are a number of things that could/should be updated about the user interface for the SOM site, and that's one. I think TSN's functions/features could be so much better than they are. They should try to look at other sites (Yahoo, CBS, etc.) as blueprints.

Once a trade offer has been read, I give 24 hours to reply, then rescind the offer. 24 hours is ample time for someone to reject or accept it. And I agree with PBTR, the mystery card sucks.

This scenario could have happened in any of the games. This is not a thread designed to vote pro or con on the mystery card games......(which happens to be the best of all the TSN/SOM games BTW  )

The follow up emails in the league (uh...hypothetical league) indicated that the >5000pt manager knew exactly what he was doing and had little concern for the newbie.

IMO it was very bad form, but winning free credits is more important than the fun of competing fairly to some I guess. If you look at the profile of the >5000pt manager, he has a significant amount of championships and obviously knows the game well enough to compete fairly, he just chooses not to.

If this is a newbie, and not the same manager with a 2nd user name, I hope he doesn't lose interest and think that all the managers are cut throat. I've met many good people here and enjoy the leagues a great deal.

I agree it was poor sportsmanship. A private message should have been sent to the rookie manager asking if the deal is still on the table.

I also have to defend the greatness of the mystery card game. It requires tons more strategy than the regular game. As opposed to just setting what you know is your best lineup and leaving it alone, knowing that you can't improve on it, you actually have to use your brain and figure out strategies in the mystery card because you don't know exactly how good the player is that you're putting on the field. I dunno, I guess some people just aren't up to the thinking mans version of SOM. Without the mystery card games, I wouldn't be playing here anymore.
