This team and D Lee suck

Well I am 2/3 in to the season and in a 2-8 tail spin. I think the problem is that I am not getting enough people on base and D Lee leads the way.

Despite a card that has a 44% chance of him being on base against RHPs, he has been hovering around 28%. Overall my team has ABs against LHPs about 27% of the time.

I have thrown out a number of trades and hacven't had any takers. So I need to either do a FA dump or hold on ad hope that Lee starts to progress upward to that 44% OBP.

I haven't played Lee before here in '07 so I don't know if that is likely. What are other people's eerience with him??

If I decide to dump, Phelps, Swisher, Kotchman, Jackson, Cuddyer and Green are available but I have never used before.

I could go a cheap platoon with Green and a good batter against LHPs. That would let me improve 3B where I currently have super-sub Gomez playing.

Right now Glaus, Iwamuira, Lamb and Loretta are avilable. Again platers I haven't used before.

I play In Busch, there is another Busch, There is also a Chase and a Citizen. I would like to see if I can salvage a 500 season out of this.

Any thoughts or experience with some of the players above?

You can't expect a .440 OBP vs RHP unless every roll is on his card. Still it sounds like you are having some bad luck with him.

If you lose patience on D. Lee, I've had terrific success with Phelps. I think people avoid him because he's catcher eligible, so could open to injury your 2 main catchers.

I have him on about 4 or 5 teams right now, and he's been great no matter the park. Hitting .300+, hovering around a .400 obp, and a .500 slg....can't ask for much more from a $5M guy.

Seems like a bad stretch of luck, but if I were to make a move I'd definitely want a lefthanded bat. You may be seeing a number of hard R/R. I've never been particularly successful with OB guys in a pitcher's park.

Phelps might shake up your locker room, but stat-wise he's not an upgrade. If it's to free up cash, perhaps you make the case.

You are having trouble with OB, but looks like it's your staff that's having the real trouble to me. A 4.54 ERA at home in Busch ain't gonna cut it. Washburn and Owings are getting murdered (as is Marcum).

With Gomez and Cabrera you actually have some options if you don't care about the possibility of losing.

Option 1: Move Gomez to first and Cabrera to third; Pick up a DH+ with the $6.13+ left over. Thinking outside the box a bit: Drew then Burke is a slow leadoff duo w/o any lead potential. Kenny Lofton is a good leadoff man. Fred Lewis might fit. Rickie Weeks. How about a lineup of:

Lofton
Polanco
Granderson
Cabrera
Raburn
Burke
Young
Gomez
Drew

Option 2: Pick up a first OR a thirdbaseman. A platoon with Hatteberg or Morales would work. With that group I might lead off Young and have Morales cleanup and Cabrera fifth. Casey might be a good fit as he can fill in against righties if needed -- didn't do the math; he may be too expensive.

Option 3: Get a cheap replacement at 1b, 3b, or dh and pick up a new starter or two. Shields is a good fit for your park, but is expensive. Chad Billingsley should be added to your roster immediately. Some people really like Kevin Slowey for his value.

Personally I'd go for option 3.

Yes, if I give up Lee then I have a lot of work to do with the 6M.

Pitching-wise, I could go with Myers for Owings. The Chase field team is stacked with LHBs. Myers and Washburn mught do better against that team even in Chase. My pitchers face LHBs about 49% of the time.

I could then pick up Lofton and then perhaps have money left over to upgrade Marcum. Although his WHIP and BAA for RHB is pretty decent.

IN CB Park I traded for D Lee then flipped him, along w/ "S" Lance Berkman, for...Sir Albert.

Pujols got better & better thruout the season but it was still a losing team.
