KEEP ME IN MIND FOR A KEEPER LEAGUE!!

KEEP ME IN MIND FOR A KEEPER LEAGUE!!

Postby jmlopp » Mon Jan 19, 2009 4:41 pm

On this day of the inauguration, I am feeling hopeful. I have a
dream.... A dream where I build a dynasty that lasts forever....
A keeper league... yea... thats it.... a keeper league. If you or
anyone is beginning a keeper league... please call on me.
Ask not what you can do for your country... ask what you can do for me.
Really, I am apolitical, but I hope if I miss your message online you will remember this and call...

Perhaps you can detail more about your experience. How long have you played SOM/SOM Online, etc... How many teams do you play per year?

I played the board game in a league for 3 seasons many years ago. (This was a keeper league)I joined the internet league one calendar year ago. I am currently managing 7 teams. I have managed 30 teams in the last 12 months. I am 43, a teacher, and very responsible.

USKL Rules (as an template)

Postby Detroit-Tigers » Tue Jan 20, 2009 5:16 pm

Basically we started with a serpentine 40 round draft, and then:

1. Teams will be comprised of 40 man rosters. The 40 man size must be maintained at all times. You may (through unbalanced trades) go UNDER the 40 man capacity, but you may never go OVER. IF you do go under, you will have an oppurtunity to get back up to capacity in the Free Agent and Supplemental Drafts that precede seasonal play. (See Rules 5 and 9 for more details)

2. We will play two seasons for each carded year.

3. Your playing team must maintain a 25 man roster at all times. You make as many moves up and down off that 25 man roster that you can afford in a given year, provided that you always maintain the 25 man roster size.

4. After Game 132, you may add up to 3 additional players to your playing team for the end of that season's play.

5. Between Season One and Season Two of a carded year there will be a 3 Round Supplemental Draft in which any available player left over from the Free Agent Draft at the start of the year is eligible to be now taken. Before entering the Supplemental Draft, a team must drop as many players that it wishes to redraft (up to 3) prior to the start of the Supplemental Draft, and these players are eligible then to be drafted as well.

***NOTE*** If a roster is UNDER the 40 man capacity, it may choose to use Supplemental Round picks to get back to 40 man capacity, but unlike the Free Agent Draft, there IS a 3-round MAXIMUM in place. Thus, you will NOT be able to swap out 3 players AND fill out an undersized roster. You may of course trade for another owner's Supplemental Draft picks and thus have more rounds that way, but you will never be able to have greater than a 40 man roster.

6. After our first season of play in a given year, the Divisions will be realigned for the following season (AND the ORDER OF THE SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFT) based on the Win/Loss pct. of the prior season. Any ties will be broken by; 1. Head to Head results and if need be; 2. Greatest positive RS-RA differential. The league will be formed such that the EAST will be teams 1-4, the CENTRAL 5-8 and the WEST 9-12.

7. Heading into the start of a NEW YEAR -- the Divisions (AND the FREE AGENT DRAFT ORDER) will be in order of the previous year's total combined standings. Any ties will be broken by; 1. Head to Head results and if need be; 2. Greatest positive RS-RA differential. The league will be formed such that the EAST will be teams 1-4, the CENTRAL 5-8 and the WEST 9-12.

8. At the start of each TSN carded year, there will be a Free Agent Draft in which the teams will be able to reshuffle and restock their teams with new players. The Players eligible for the Free Agent Draft (and the subsequent Supplemental Draft later in the year) are any player who played in the Major Leagues in the prior season. This includes any hitter with at least one PA any pitcher with at least one batter faced.

9. Preceding the Free Agent Draft at the start of a year, all teams must release a MINIMUM of 5 players that they wish to exchange out for the purpose of redrafting. There IS NO MAXIMUM amount of players that may be dropped. The players MUST be released prior to the start of the Free Agent Draft and will be eligible to be redrafted in that same Free Agent Draft (provided that they played in the Major Leagues in the previous season). If (through unbalanced trades) you enter the Free Agent Draft with LESS than a 40 man roster, you will get as many extra rounds necessary (in addition to those you receive for player drops) to bring your roster back up to maximum capacity.

The Fowldawg Corollary -- If you choose to trade Free Agent (or Supplemental) Draft pick/s -- you will be required to drop as many players necessary to actually have the pick/s that you traded. This means that if you choose to trade say for example a 9th round pick in an upcoming FA Draft that you are then required to drop that many players so that you will actually HAVE a 9th round pick. One important subset of this to note, is that IF you somehow make several unbalanced trades leaving you with a complete 40 man roster heading into the FA Draft -- AND you have (a) FA Draft pick/s coming to you as well -- you WILL have to drop (a) player/s in advance of that/those pick/s as well.

10. At the start of each season of play you may choose to stay in the park you just played in, or choose to play in another park. You will be required to announce your decision prior to the start of either the upcoming Supplemental or Free Agent Drafts and a subsequent Stadium draft will ensue for those teams wishing to switch, run in the SAME ORDER as the upcoming player draft.

Fantastic!!

I take it the original draft will be online at ILC. It would not have to necessarily be a 200 million league but that woudl help simplify matters.
Am I on the right track?
