The TSN Loyalty Discount: Am I the only one...?

Postby RONALDDOBBS » Wed Mar 01, 2006 7:52 am

I sympathize with the owners that had lots (15) (25)or even (40) teams playing. I have two active. Didn`t expect anything from TSN but am REAL HAPPY with the deal that they made us. Guys, it could have been....a Helluva lot WORSE. A tip of the Goldwater hat to Bernie and his crew.....Set`um up, bartender, and give Bernie a double double. :D

OK, here's a little different take on the restaurant analogy...

If I went to a restaurant amd got terrible service and I was treated as though I were doing the waiters a favor by eating there, I would stop going to that restaurant. For me, it doesn't have to do with the product (the steak), but with the customer service. I started dropping in to the TSN SOM restaurant about 3 years ago and at one point was treated so disrespectfully, I decided to never go back to the restaurant. I learned that I really didn't go to the restaurant for the food, but for the people I met when I was there. So I started going to the restaurant and ordering just an appetizer, nursing that appetizer for a long period of time so I could interact with my Pals at the restaurant. I actually started eating before I went to the restaurant (Netplay) so I wasn't tempted to reward the terrible service at the restaurant with larger receipts.

TSN SOM this week made the first attempt I've seen to let me know that they care about my frequenting their restaurant. Is it a marketing ploy? Have we been hoodwinked? Maybe..but last year at this time, our complaints about the downtime would have been met with "if you are so unhappy with the service...don't come back." Is this Bernie's influence? Is it because the stars are lined up in a certain order? I don't know, but I appreciate the slight smile from the head waiter as I entered the restaurant last night. Do I expect now to be treated courteously and respectfully? No, but who knows..a smile is a start in the right direction.

At some point we all have to decide if the bad service and the poor food is worth seeing our ATGII community on a regular basis. The five pack I bought will help defray some of the cost of a current 12 season league I'm committed to. Will I buy more teams than I would have before the smile?..probably not..but time will tell.

This is your steak story.
You were unhappy with your $20 steak. The owner gives you a coupon for $12.50 steak. You come back the next night with your whole extended family and buy 35 steaks at $12.50 and leave with a smile.

my comments meant no offense to bernie, bernie's the best. nor even a half full remark. I thought it was a decent gesture. I only wish it were open ended and not for the same leagues we've beaten into the ground as we wait for the new sets. ive found in the past, you're lucky to transfer one existing credit to another game at best. i do appreciate it, and think it shows an effort at compensation, just how I would have handled it differently had we been asked. if bernie or his tsn superiors read any of this and see fit to allow transfers of leftover credits to new games, I would be a VERY happy carnivore.

[quote:e5ee9ba33e]Why not stock up on credits now, and when the new games start, request a transfer of credits to the new game? They've done it in the past, why not now?[/quote:e5ee9ba33e]

that might work in ATG [color=red:e5ee9ba33e][b:e5ee9ba33e]IF [/b:e5ee9ba33e][/color:e5ee9ba33e]they shut down ATG2, like they shut down ATG1. From the 05-06 (just like 02-03 and 03-05) they only allow ONE credit transfer. I'm pretty sure if ATG2 stays with ATG3, that only 1 credit transfer will apply also.

Look, the gesture is ok, and it really benefits those guys who have just a few teams, and no credits. What it does nothing for are those people who got really screwed (I missed 2 trade deadline on 2 teams I HAD to make moves on) and those people who have many many teams and credits to spare.

It's good, or absolutely nothing depending what side of the fence you are on. Technically (I'm no lawyer) their rules state that 3 games will be played per night, then you can make changes. When that didn't happen, You no longer got what you paid for, end of story. The discount doesn't cover what happened to your teams, all it does it let you replace them, at half price, but it does nothing to fix what might have been destroyed.

ATGII won't stay when ATGIII comes. The impression I got is that they'll just be adding cards.

I for one, am EXTREMELY disappointed with this resolution. I called Jessica Alba's people 45 times yesterday, and they say she's never heard of me. I will have to console myself with a couple of discount 5 packs

I'm with Marge. I am in the 60 million dirty dozen for ATGII and if I can get the rest of the teams at 50% off, that's a pretty good deal.

Of Steak and SOM

Postby DizandMiles » Thu Mar 02, 2006 11:00 am

For me - I had one bad experience at the SOM Steak House - and really the steak came out ok - just ridiculously late - the stove broke and I had already paid for it - but in the past I had good steaks there - sometimes the sides were a bit strange - but the steak was always good -

So they offer me as many steak dinners as I want for half off - I think that was a good decision - it will keep customers coming and what is the difference between buying 10 steaks and paying for five or getting five free steaks and paying for five?

Final note - for those on a tight budget the time limit might be a bit unfair, otherwise the decision reminds me of Solomon when he said "Cut that baby in half" except in this case everbody can win.

A steak at half price just taste's a lot better, no doubt. - I expect that we should see some kind of last minute extension to the discount, another week or two. The quick deadline is just a marketing strategy to get people to buy NOW, but I'll just BET they keep it going for at least a couple more weeks. - Don't hold me to it, though and no I won't make up the difference if you miss. -
