Chipper The Ripper

Chipper The Ripper

Postby RICHARDMILTER » Sat May 16, 2009 3:13 am

Someone dropped Chipper Jones during the pre-season of a league I am in. I was lucky enough to scoop him up. I know he can miss a lot of games, but in the couple of leagues I have been in, that finished up, he has hit .350 or better. I have never used him on any team, in any season. I guess I just always assume that I will not get him in the auto draft, so I do not even try. He is a very popular player, and I was shocked to see him available. I hope he does not miss too many games. Has anyone seen him put up bad numbers yet this season? Did I just jinx him for my team, and league? I think his nick name should be ,"Chipper Shredder", or "Chipper The Ripper", or just, "Shredder". Anyway, does anyone have any Chipper stories, or reports of Teddy "Ball Game" Williams type numbers out of him, for this season?

Thanks DJ! 47 out of 141 games missed kind of scares me. That is a lot of missed time. I have seen Furcal and much bigger injury risk guys miss less games than that. I guess it is just all a roll of the dice.

Check out the Shredder on this team. He was over .400 for most of the season but faded right at the end. Also check out Mike Pelfrey. Not great but very nice stats for the money.

Nice! I have not tried Pelfrey yet, but I did have him singled out as a real potential bargain. And you have confirmed it.

Great numbers for you, my concern is he seems to miss a lot of time.

WILLY AYBAR IS A VERY NICE AND CHEAP BACKUP FOR CHIPPER WHILE HE IS OUT, ADD THE 2 TOGETHER AND YOU CAN'T MISS

I got lucky on the injury front, and Chipper was a monster all year. 600 ABs, .360 AVG .456 OBP .530 SLG 22 HRs, all in AT&T.
