Have you tried a $60 million cap for a 24 team league yet?

24 teams-60 mil. salary cap best IMHO! See "real mgr league"

Check out (and make a team entry in) the "real manager's league". Based on my calculations (and what i see happening in the $80 mil cap leagues for 24 teams), the actual real life major league baseball teams probably on average use about $67 million in terms of strat-o-matic salaries. By having 24 teams using $80 million, it pretty much guarantees that EVERYONE is gone after the draft and waivers - not very realistic. I believe that at a cap of $60 million, it will cause a more balanced dynamic, and a more fluid situation. If you lost out in the draft and/or the waiver draft and scrum, you still have a chance with the $60 mil cap, since there will be SOMEONE left after the drafts, in the free agent pool. Otherwise, in the $80 mil cap leagues, if you dont have much after the 2 drafts, you are in really bad shape without much chance of fixing it! Getting down to $60 mil isnt too hard, really, esp. if there is no DH (as in the real manager's league). Check it out - this is real baseball and real strategy, folks!!!!! Hal still needs to expand the # of playoff teams

way I see it its hard enough to win a div & make playoffs...now besides doubling the # of teams w/out expanding the playoffs, you make it even harder still b/c now we have SIX teams per div rather than 4. Odds of making playoffs a/o winning the championship are like slim & none. :o

BUT-you get a credit JUST FOR GETTING TO ROUND 1 OF THE PLAYOFFS. So, the odds of getting at least 1 credit (on a random basis) are EXACTLY THE SAME AS IN A 12 TEAM LEAGUE. (4/24 vs. 2/12). AND, the credits are slightly richer in a 24 team league, even on a per player basis - 3 for the world series champion, 2 for the world series finalist, and 1 each for the other playoff contestants, for a total of 7/24 - better (albeit slightly better) than the 3/12 in a 12 team league.
If it's about the credits, that means you ARE NO WORSE OFF, and actually SLIGHTLY BETTER in a 24 team league.
If it's about making the playoffs, then you have a point. BUT, think of it winning your division as roughly equivalent to the first round of the playoffs. In other words, the pennant race in your division is like the first round. If you are good enough to make a run for a playoff spot, then you are 1 of 8 teams battling - or exactly twice as many as the 4 teams that actually make the playoffs in a 12 team league - NO REAL DIFFERENCE. :) G :D
