lots of interesting ideas. I feel you guys are doing a great job ironing out the details and I am fine with whatever is decided.

Knowing your divisions would certainly add to the overall strategy, so that is good.

What about the top 3 bids getting [b:8ca4efc361]1[/b:8ca4efc361] rebid and it is closed?

I am definitly in favour of a DH. :D

#2 and #3 conflict. If I am within 10.00% exactly of the top bid according to #2, there is no open auction. #3 says that there is an open auction based on being within 10.00% which causes a conflict. I think #2 needs to say greater than 10.00%.

Seems like we are really close.

I like Hackra's solution for dealing with ties during the first 200, and I could live with our current tiebreaker rules during the last 100, but how about if after player 200, we have an open auction [b:d7c92b3a7c]only if there is a tie[/b:d7c92b3a7c], and with only the members of that tie in on the auction? The first bid would make the bid that began the open auction and get to put up the next player, just as with earlier ties.

you are correct, and I have edited the above to read as you suggested.

I also like litangel's proposal of open auction for tiebreaker for the last 100 players, and think it would be appropriate (especially with the $0.10 minimum raise, those last ones will not drag out)

I like litangel's idea on the last 100 too.

If I read litangel correctly, we would use current tiebreaker rules for the last 100 players, but go with an open auction on ties only from pick 201 until then. I like that idea, if that's the correct reading. Realize, even if two players bid several times before a high bid is achieved, we will not have added one moment to the length of the overall auction - they will be happening simultaneously.

I'm good with everything that's been proposed.

As for roster size, no preference really.

I would like to pick stadiums before hand too, but not really a biggy either.

This sounds fascinating. I wish I had the time to participate in this one. Though I will not be involved, I want to say that the closed/open concept seems really cool; I think it adds another whole strategic element. And I like the pre-auction divisional alignment. And I like the open auction tie-breaker idea, too.
Oh well... T-minus 3 weeks (or less) and counting for the arrival of a baby girl!

I've been watching the current auction too when I have a spare minute (not many of them around though). I have just ONE question:
Buck - I know you love centerfielders, so are you going to play Fred Lynn at 1b or 3b, Brett Butler at 2b or C, and Bob Dernier at ss? Just wondering. :P

Have fun guys!

Palanion, if your daughter is due in three weeks, then you should have plenty of time for this. You work 8-10 hrs a day, wake up 3 times to feed/change the baby, and should still have 30 minutes a day for this. And, by the time we get finished with the auction, your daughter could ask her kindergarten class for advice on the lineup. Congrats on the coming arrival....Mike
