Dave, why do you think HanRam might slip back? Zone and Range ratings are Greek to me. What do you see?

It doesn't always translate, but I really like the UZR stat on fangraphs.com. It basically measures how many runs are "produced" with a guy's defense, with a positive value indicating more. They break it up into range, errors, double plays, and arm (for OFs). I wish it was used even more by the SOM folks to determine defensive ratings.

I think HanRam undeservedly had a 2 in 2009 with a very pedestrian UZR150 (expected UZR in 150 games played) of -0.1. For reference among SSs, Jack Wilson led the league with a UZR150 of 22.7 and Elvis Andrus was second at 13.5. Both had particularly high values for range. In 2010, HanRam's UZR150 plummeted to -12.4 with a low range value. Can't forget that game or two he got benched for lack of hustle. That certainly can't help his case ...

Another Bookmark. Thanks Dave. Middle infield is exceptionally weak this year. Between injuries and sucky offense, there's only a couple at each position worth taking in the early rounds IMO. At least in visicks 100M drafts. With this one, hey, get a platoon backup.

I'm not sure Choo was the best player available, but I went with the hometown pick for me. Maybe he'll be a 2(-4)e5 or so, with a balance of 4R or 5R. He should be a good baserunner and stealer, so I'm happy enough.

It certainly was tempting to take a pitcher. We'll see what's ahead. Lots of choices to make now ...

It's already an odd draft. Like the other guy's notes, middle infielders are pretty lean this year, so I'm going after best available. Now that Werth has a more balanced card, he looked like my best position player choice.

Had to take Ubaldo due to his hits/inning ratio.....and only 10HRs allowed. Too bad I couldn't use his mid-season numbers to make his card.

Oh well...just winging it. No master plan here.

Kelly Johnson's mom must be proud. Picked in the second round. Last year he wasn't even picked. I'm glad it's not a keeper.

Dang it, Dan. I was hoping Crawford would slip down to me. He and Cargo are a badass one-two punch in the OF.

I don't know about those recent DH-only picks of Ortiz and Thome by Dan and Ineluki. Kind of ties your hands too much I think.

DH picks are a dime a dozen, however as platoon players Thome and Ortiz will rake. (at least Thome...I'm not as familiar with Ortiz' splits)
