2010 PRE-CARD DRAFT CHAT/BANTER THREAD

[quote:c71caa3567]There is just nothing I like hitting wise that makes me think I can get a somewhat similar hitter in the later round. [/quote:c71caa3567]

all I know is that if I can get Price in the 6th round as the [b:c71caa3567]17th[/b:c71caa3567] pitcher taken over all...

then pitching is deep!

Price was a steal that low. I was hoping he'd slide to me.

So I took Furcal and then I noticed he wasn't taken in the last draft. What do you crazy cats know that I'm missing out on?

It's deep, but philosophies of the GM's selecting hitters allowed Price to drop to you. Case in point, the quality of RP's out there that nobody has taken yet.

I'm really starting to think I've made some major mistakes....

Taking outfielders with my first three picks (My thinking was "take the best player available") I cut down my flexibility. I took Choo with the 24th pick in the draft, thisisdan took Heyward with the 61 pick. Heyward will most likely put up 80-90% of the production of Choo. Heaven forbid Heyward gets a 2 fielding rating he'll probably be the same $.

I thought the same thing until I checked out how many errors he had made...

ahhh! Those dreaded errors. Furcal will be lucky if he's a 2e33

Got your message drew. Gonna mull it over.

SOM world has Heyward just slightly ahead of Choo in OB. (46.2 vs. 45.5)

Choo's TB's are much better though. (42.9 vs. 33.9)

Both guys will have very nice cards.

"Pre-Card Draft" Keeper League

Postby tcochran » Fri Nov 19, 2010 7:11 pm

Thanks to socalchiro for starting these two leagues for 2010. This is the first "pre-card" experience I've had.

I enjoyed it a lot, though, and suggest that we continue with the concept in a new "pre-card draft" keeper league.

If I've counted correctly, there were 123 players selected in both of the drafts.

For the 21 x 2 = 42 solo picks, palmtana was the only manager who had none.

The leaders in innovation, with the most solo picks, were:
6 - drew6013
6 - toronto50
5 - visick
4 - tied with 4 managers

The question, of course, is did they make great choices that other managers will regret? Or regrettable choices that other managers will think are great?

Only time will tell...
