Across the Decades Live Draft

Across the Decades Live Draft

Postby AeroDave10 » Tue Jan 11, 2011 4:41 pm

1. Basic Rules:
110M, No DH, Waivers, 5/10/20 Drop, Unique Stadium
Divisions will be East 1-4, Central 5-8, West 9-12

2. Pre-Draft Rounds –
a. Randomizer will be run to determine opening "decade" draft slot (see "decades" below). The manager who gets the first pick may pick any decade (not just designated #1, Negro League) and pick any player carded to that "decade". The draft slot number associated with the first pick for that round will be that manager's draft slot number for all remaining rounds and that the round that "decade" is picked will be the order we proceed through that "decade".

**********************************
Example: Manager A gets first overall pick from randomizer and chooses 1922 Rogers Hornsby card. Manager A is now "#3" and will have second pick in 1970-1979, third pick in Negro League, all the way through twelfth pick in 1889-1909. Also, the 1920-1929 "decade" becomes the first live draft round.

Manager B gets second overall pick from randomizer and chooses 1995 Greg Maddux card. Manager B is now "#9" and will have second pick in 1940-1949, third pick in 1930-1939, all the way through twelfth pick in 2000-2009. Also the 1990-1999 "decade" becomes the second live draft round.
**********************************

b. In the second pre-draft round (using reverse of randomizer order), each manager will select 2 unique stadiums. Manager must use one of the two stadiums for league play.

3. Live Draft Rounds - Each round will proceed with selections made of ANY eligible player (based on card) for that "decade". You may select any player at any position as long as he has not been drafted already in another decade. Order of live draft rounds will be determined by #1 selections following randomizer.

4. Auto Draft – The remaining 13 players will be AD. You [u:c6425d4cc4]MUST[/u:c6425d4cc4] include all live-drafted players, with eligible cards, on your AD card.

5. While trading amongst teams is encouraged, during the season you must maintain at least one player on your team from each of the 12 "decades" at all times.

Dave... so that it is real clear.

If someone selects Babe Ruth (1920-29)... is his draft position then the #3 in the subsequent rounds?

Exactly. That manager gets the second choice of the 1970-1979 players, the third choice of Negro League players, etc. Once all of the decades are selected, too, we can post the draft order for each round.

Ok, Frank. You're only drafting Babe Ruth and the 1920-1929 decade right now. No one else is drafting 1920-1929 players until we all make our decade picks and stadium picks.

bigmahon may now make his decade / player pick. He can pick anyone [u:896eb361a2]not carded[/u:896eb361a2] to the 1920-1929 era.

I would ask that you put the draft slot number corresponding to that decade next to your pick for clarity.

Dave.... what if a player is carded multi-decade?

Not sure if it really matters, but what if there is a stud 1910-19 or 1930-39 that also has a 20's card? Is it necessary to preclude them from being drafted during the pre-rounds? My thought was that with this pre-round, each manager is able to get the best possible player with their #1 pick.

Also, as the draft goes along if a player is taken in a particular decade round, are you limited to using only a card that has that decade on it? For instance... Kiner's superior card is 49... can someone take him in the 50's and still use the 49 card?

I vote for: If you get the 1950 Kiner card, you can swap it out later for whichEVER card you want.

How can you police this otherwise?

Kinda defeats the purpose of the theme then...

visick

ie. If u want the 1950 Kiner card, then draft the 1950 Kiner card.
