there won't be anything good down at the bottom don't worry, these things are always top heavy and its luck of the draw in the randomizer whether you win or lose.

The negro leaguer helps a bit but really when you are faced with taking WAS(Walter Johnson and a bunch of scrubs always sucks), CWS(always thought it would be ok but then I get stuck with it and I see it sucks), STB/BAL(always sucks), BKN(without LA really sucks), CIN (surprisingly sucky as well like CWS does at least appeal to Big Red Machine lovers out there although Morgan and Bench are classic underperformers) as your first pick and you are looking up at the NYY, STL, and BOS franchises you are going to lose and Oscar Charleston isn't going to change it.

I'm not complaining and I guess I am just pointing out the obvious as we all knew what we were getting into. I do like the addition of the Negro Leaguers.

I dunno, you get the last pick, you wind up with a team that doesn't have a marquee first baseman, second baseman, CF or catcher, and could use a pitcher or two. You take Houston with the first pick of the second round, add Bagwell, Biggio Cedeno, Scott and Richard. With the first pick of the third round, you add Gibson. You're a little (or a lot) vs. L slanted, so hopefully, your big franchise has some LH bats, or some RH who abuse RH. Then you tuck em into Minute Maid...

Alternatively, you get a team like CWS, take the Rangers, get IRod and ARod (no really, his highest priced card is with Texas). Address CF with Charleston. I dunno that that gets you toe to toe with the Yankees outfield of Ruth, Dimaggio, Maris with DH Mantle, but it gets you a lot closer than you were.
