Leonard Pope Phillies League

Re: Leonard Pope Phillies League

Basic theme is each owner must have at least one Phillie on roster, and will draft two franchises (not Philadelphia) allowing them to have permanent ownership of those two franchise's players, excepting trades. Owners must have at least 9 players from their two drafted franchises on their active roster, trades/drops are ok as long as total is at least 9.

Just a question to clarify the rules as this statement is a bit ambiguos. Is it a total of 9 players between the two franchises or 9 players from each, a total of 18 players? Thanks for the clarification.

When I wrote rules I thought it's nine total players from the two franchises, if that's not right let me know, Ducapa. If so, if you draft say, TEX and OAK you would need to have at least nine players from either TEX or OAK, at least one Phillie, and rest of team (18 players, unless we go with 25 man rosters) would be from the five undrafted teams or trades.

So, if you draft a team like Pittsburgh you could only keep one or two players from them if you wanted. Should be interesting to see what "team building" method people use, either using primarily the franchises and using FA draft/trades to fill holes or vice versa.

You must have 9 players in total from your two franchises on your active roster as well as one Phillie. Remember you will likely have non roster players from your two franchises so feel free to trade players away if you can pick somr up to get back to 9.

while we are clarifying rules.... Do we have exclusive rights to all players from our franchise teams even if they are not on our active roster? We can, however, trade any of these players, as long as we keep the magic number 9... is that correct?

Yes. From the rules in the opening post -

Thanks Delbird, yes you retain exclusive rights to all of your franchise and 4 drafted players unless they are traded.

For the 4 round player draft I'm making the following assumptions - so let me know if this is not accurate -

1. The one required Phillies player can be taken in any of the 4 rounds - does not have to be round 1 of the player draft....as long as we end up with one Phillies player.
2. We can pick multiple players from one 'free agent' team during the 4 round player draft - ie. not limited to one from any given team
3. We can take more than one Phillies player in the 4 round draft if we want - basically #2 above but specific to Phillies for clarification. So if we wanted to, we could actually take 4 Phillies players in the 4 round draft.

Thanks.

Blackjack - can you update the rules with this clarification

Postby Ducapa » Wed Jun 29, 2011 9:02 am

Yes on all three points Delbird, but a slight change to no. 3, since everybody must draft at least one Phillie and there are 30 Phillies to choose from, each team cam draft a maximum of 2 Phillies players.
Also, when we fill out the draft cards once the league is setup, no free agents can be on your card only drafted players as we will have a scheduled frenzy once the league has drafted. I like that new scheduled frenzy feature!
