GMKL prospect draft-complete

I'm calling a temporary halt while I figure this out.

It has always been my intention that the current year MLB draft class is ineligible for the current year prospect drafts, and I had thought that I had made this clarification part of the rules. But I've been trolling through the thread and can't find where this was first brought up. So Cubit has a legitimate beef from what I'm finding.

I'm certain we dealt with this year's ago. I even remember what brought about the change - it was in response to HCKL allowing ANYONE to be drafted as a prospect - even college kids. That struck me as wrong and I remember not wanting GMKL to allow it. I just can't find any record in my brief scan of the thread. I do remember that allowing "carte blanche" in the prospect draft could cause problems - like when guys are drafted but don't sign (see Aaron Crow).

There has to be someone else that recall's my little "reaction" to Dave's decision in HCKL - right? Dave?

I seem to remember this coming up last year, when Bryce Harper was the #1 pick. He wasn't in the prospect draft until this spring, so there's precedent...for what it's worth.

Thanks Hawk - I found it also on the top of the 7/12/10 GMKL Prospect draft thread as well. It looks like that's how we've been doing for at least the last 2 prospect drafts.

Sorry Ted, but I'm going to disallow your pick of Starling citing past practice. You do have a legitmate gripe and I apologize - it's my fault for not having the rules updated (they are now). So you're stuck with Leonys Martin....which I don't think is a bad thing since he'll hit the bigs at least 5 years before that "Nebraska QB" will.

No problem- since you took the trouble to warn me by email so quickly, I was not seriously disadvantaged so got to pick my second choice before somebody else grabbed him. I just had not checked either email or the Boards from my 'vacation hideout' at the NYPL
