[quote:c1f0eb96de="Palanion"][quote:c1f0eb96de="trimhunter"]I am trying to get SOM to guarantee that if I reformat my hard drive or buy a new computer, or hell even if I buy another computer after that computer that I can transfer those seasons to the new computer or a new hard drive. I am not going to eventually invest thousands of dollars into something and then it all be worthless just because I format my hard drive, or buy 2 new computers.

Anyone have any experience with this situation?[/quote:c1f0eb96de]

Trim,

Check out that forum I linked earlier. But, otherwise, just keep your autho cards that came with the CD. Or, as many do, create a spreadsheet to keep tracks of the codes and the seasons to which they belong.
If you ever need to reauthorize on a new computer, I believe the action is to notify SOM and then install on the new computer with the existing auto code.
I have not had to do that yet, but there will come a day.[/quote:c1f0eb96de]

I checked out that forum and I tried to register(apparently I was already a member and I did not know it) but it said my email has been banned. I tried to contact the forum administrator but I have yet to get a response.

I skipped several versions of the cdrom game so when I decided recently to get back in to the computer game I purchased a new full version. As a consequence I had about a dozen seasons become useless and will have to repurchase them. Strato basically said tough luck when I contacted them.

Buying from stratomatic is as much a roll of the dice as the game is. It is a gamble and the company has little honor.

That is the problem, I have AOL email. I guess I will not be visiting that forum, that is my only email address.

I don't understand, why are the old versions not usable with the new version?

Strat changed the authentication method and they simply do not authenticate the old seasons off the disks. Why did they do this? To make us pay for the seasons again. I had planned on buying every season over the next 6 months or so. But after they cheated me out of those seasons I have decided to make no further purchases.
