A team selection of Detroit EXP gives exclusive rights to Miguel Cabrera

A team selection of Seattle EXP gives exclusive rights to Randy Johnson

A team selection of Boston EXP gives exclusive rights to Curt Schilling

NEL is not an available pick to anyone in the team draft. We set the league up as Waivers not Frenzy. We do the 4 rounds and everyone gets exclusive rights to the high value carded players from the teams selected in the 4 rounds. NEL players can be obtained through free agency.

When creating your autodraft you can add up to 2 Free Agents. The Free Agents Pool consists of
1.) Todd Helton
2.) ANY Negro League Player
3.) Any player whose high value card is from one of the unselected team groupings

After the autodraft, you can place up to 2 waiver claims on any available free agents. If you lost a bid on a player in the auto draft and HAL gave you a replacement who is not eligible for your roster, you must drop him during the pre-season and/or when waivers runs..

You can also select players in the free agent pool where you have rights to low value carded players. For example, if Cleveland EXP is seleted, by another manager, but they do not Auto Draft Robbie Alomar (high value cards are with CLE EXP) he will be in the free agent pool. If you drafted TOR EXP, you cannot Auto Draft Alomar, but you can select his $7 mil TOR EXP card out of the Free Agetn Pool. This selection does not count against your 2 free agent allocations. You cannot use his $9mil + Clev exp cards.

During the auto draft you should protect players where you have the high value card and you want to keep them. If they are in the free agent pool, teams that also have rights to that player may take them.

I like the additions of Walker et al to the other teams as it serves to make those teams more attractive and could change the strategy.

I don't like the Helton/NEL idea as it defeats the purpose of the theme in that we are taking 4 teams and trying to make a winner with them. My thought is that we either make NEL 2 teams or make them ineligible altogether so that it becomes a MLB only 4 team theme league

You could also break down NeL into hitters half and pitchers half. So you can either pick NeL Hitters or Pitchers.

I think what he meant was that since this is a four round draft - if you pick NeL (as highly likely will be the first pick) then you only get 3 team picks as NeL counts as two picks.

Overall, I'd be more in favor of dropping NeL completely as a pick.
