I would assume so, I do not actually own the game myself, but I know someone who does and plays one off games on line frequently. I'm sure that what you desribe would be all that was needed to run a league.

Football Online Leagues

Postby ROBERTLATORRE » Mon Oct 03, 2011 6:08 am

There are many active. Strat Fan Forum has info on ones with openings. Basically the leagues are mostly season to season keeper leagues with long term managers that play every season.

Almost all prefer head to head play online, guys are usually pretty flexible on scheduling the game time. In general a lot of fun.

Downside: The SOM head to head online functionality is very unreliable, you'll need to know how to portforward your router, and even if you do, it doesn't always work. Also, if you are playing another coach who is slow, the games could take longer than an NFL game.

Tony, I am in an online football league and rarely have issues anymore with connectivity. If we do, we reboot the saved game and are all set. I would highly recommend playing a few pickup games, and if u like it, joining a league. It is a blast!

I'm going to throw you guys all off when I say.....I like the Strato Basketball board game better than baseball and football!!!

I'm a bigger Baseball and Football fan, but for some reason, the Strato Basketball board game is my favorite. Once you know the rules and get rolling with it, it is a fast paced crazy game. I find it to be realistic and with all Strato games, allows a lot of strategy by the manager.

I was one of those who played the online Strato Football on TSN when it was offered a few years and it was fun. It needed some tweaking, but it was a good first effort. I wish it would come back.

JMac, it works always for some and doesn't reliably work for some. It's a problem area needless to say. Doesn't prevent me from rebuying the game every year, but I've lost interest in online h2h play.

I was very active in BB leagues and it got too frustrating for me. Would have to restart many times during a 3 game series.

It does work very reliably for some though.

Having said that, when it works it is TERRIFIC FUN!!!!!

Tony, SOM has a 30 day return policy I think, check the site. Once you install it you can go into the online lobby and find someone to start up a game with for testing or post on SFF and you will get volunteers to help you test it.

There is also a lot of good documentation on Port Forwarding in SFF too. Good people willing to help there.
