[quote:df5f75d189="Paul_Long71"]yes, someone would trade "something" for Hartnett. Hell, it only took me 8 hrs. to come up with a trade for him.
[/quote:df5f75d189]

Hell yeah-
but at least we hammered it out! :D

But seriously, lets say he got off to a slow start and I just outright dropped him and one of our div mates grabbed him off waivers...
Would suck, yeah?

Why is it when someone disagrees with us we assume they do not know what they are doing. And why do we get bent out of shape as if we were insulted.

If I offered you salmon for Schmidt you would probably say now and post on boards what an idiotic trade off was sent.

Yet I have had the luxury before os having Schmidt, Boggs, and Breet. Offers were so pathetic, including the offers from vets whigh rankings 10 time mine and more. Yes, it can go down to the wire and you have to decide between options. 1) The guy who has been really lowballing you on offers knowing I will have to so something with one of them. No need to offer fair value under those circumstances the vet say. So if running out of time I might very well accept a Schmidt/Salmon swap if I feel an extra OFer can help me. And there have been a few times I have given away spare parts that were good to someone I have always had good honest and easy negotiations woth rather than give to someone who has spent days trying to rip me off while trying to convince me they are trying to help.

And will plead guilty there have been times I waited until the last minute trying to get fair value and just dropped someone when I couldn't

Without naming names which I will steadfastly refuse to do I will say there are several vets who occasionally come on the boards whining about the poor state of trading that have tried to pull over a fast one and take advantage of the new guy.

I would not always call this a no brainer. Guerrero is balanced toward R and therefore against several teams and ballparks I would have a strong preference for Vlad.

Just because someone thinks differently than me does not make either one of us wrong or trying to get away with something.

Deal in good faith and good trades will happen. When I am motivated I can usually complete a half dozen trades or more. Less lately because I finally just quit sending offers to people who like to belittle you on boards if you make an offer they do not like.

Boy you make a lot of assumptions....and if you knew this situation you'd see none of what you assumed applied..I'd fill you in on the particulars and then you could better decide....Or you can continue to find every stretch imaginable to rationalize how the "certain vets" are somehow always to blame.

You know at first I just thought you choose to show us that there is two sides to each coin...but that's not really what you're doing.... because after awhile of reading your stuff I realize that you only think there is one side yourself.

I'm pretty new but I find it hard to make deals in ATG because there are so many options. I have had one or two dumb trade offers to me, but I have also found it hard to come up with fair deals unless both players want a specific player really bad.

Suppose I did make some assumptions based on what you wrote. That is all I have to go by. If there is more to the story then share instead of flaming me because I had the audicity to suggest you might be wrong. When you complain someone would rather have Vlad than Aaron I do assume you offered Aaron for Vlad and got turned down. Why else would you care what their preference was?

When someone says something I agree with I say so. When I disagree I also say so. I feel no obligation to always agree with anyone. I know it bothers you when anyone does not agree but call em as I see em. If you want to rip me for that go ahead. I am not your lackey that has to agree with everything you say.

I just believe that everyone has a right to value players as they see fit. It is not my place or yours to tell them how stupid they are for preferring one player over another, whether that be Vlad over Aaron or whomever. So yes absolutely I do have one side and that is everyone who puts down their money has a right to build a team however they choose with whatever players they choose.

ejk- hang in there, many of the higher cap leagues there are trades going on. Its a bit tougher to trade in lower caps because of the number of options available.

ALSO: V- we are using a lot of relativism if we just say any manager can play however they want.

For example- if a manager as I mentioned above drops Barry Bonds because he is hitting .230 (this is not a stretch, he often has a low avg.) there is no explicit rule to say he can't do that.
But when your divisional opponent then picks him and kicks your butt- that sure isnt okay with me.
Or if the same manager trades Barry Bonds for a couple of 8 mill players, Id still feel the same way-
and what if you tried to trade for him with a lot better than 2 8 mill players?
so since hes not necessarily colluding or purposely tanking, what options are left?

Complain in the league?
Complain on the boards?

Thats really about it-
the only leverage folks have is if the other managers actually get together and agree its actually an issue.

I've read your stuff for[b:f4d40e9d6a] years [/b:f4d40e9d6a]now and you're consistent. You take a stand for the "other guy"....Now who's the "other guy"? It's for lack of a better word the underdog....and the side of nice and fair. Sounds peachy huh, standing up for the underdog....I get it, sounds good...I agree with you often...and I like nice...and I like fair... [b:f4d40e9d6a]but the same "rights" that these guys have to trade whoever they want, is the same rights I have to voice my opinion on any trade.[/b:f4d40e9d6a]...Now my post here was short and easy for you to spin any way you want....[b:f4d40e9d6a]but be honest here[/b:f4d40e9d6a]...haven't you consistently taken pot shots at the so called sharks for a couple of years now?
