NLD Twenty-Nine!

I still think your success has a lot to do with your ability to speak fluent Southern.

qksilver & JTJ speak Californiese but less and less players understand that language as evidenced by their recent decline in the past few NLD seasons.

I was able to win last season because half my team was deaf so we all learned how to communicate in sign language. 8-)

So how many games do you win with a 1-2 roll? Two sides to a coin or maybe it's 6 sides to a dice.[/quote:270caaf47d]

Stones, the point is that luck does matter. And, I would say in this NLD, not very often.

I'm sure you've had teams that were lucky and those that were unlucky.

I'd sure like to have a team that outperforms a Pythag again. I must do a lousy job of building such teams. At least in the NLD.

hey Jeep, when you have Sanchez and Santana putting up better numbers than Verlander while they're pitching in a much better hitter's park, you have a LOT going well for you. ;)

Ok, I'm sure this isn't luck AT ALL, but we seven of our last eight losses have been by a run. Four of them in extras. Sometimes I hate this game.

Tonight playing Jeep "it's all skill" Driver.

Let's see

1-1 game, bottom of the 8th. 1-8 single by Molina. Ellsbury steal (no luck there, he's a very good SBer ) and Jackson singles on his own card for the fun. The 1-8 is a little lucky. STarting the 9th, we don't get that roll and a single later in the inning has no chance of bringing a runner home. Oh, and there's the 1-16 single we missed with runners on the corners and the sac fly that would have potentially followed it on the next roll.

next one run game. Lose it in 10 on a walk to Cervelli off a RHP (on the pitchers card) and a 1-2 triple (single the rest) all with two outs. We had the bases loaded in the 9th, but missed a 1-8 bpsi. OTOH, we did throw a runner out at the plate in the bottom of the 9th (1-14) and we did score two unearned runs so maybe we were just lucky to stay that close to the amazing, not lucky, Jeep machine. ;)

The other game? Our pitching got crushed for 10-0 loss.

Our three most expensive hitters are still all under .256 but that's probably not luck either. Neither is Wilson 4-9 with 8 BS and a 5.51 ERA. Actually, what probably is luck is Masset with a 2.25 ERA. He's probably my lone over performer.

Very sad state of affairs.

Joe, I'm not trying to be rude, but you sing this same tune season after season now. Does it not occur to you there there is a fundamental flaw in the system you use to select players? If I were in your shoes I would be forced to come to that conclusion. The 'bad luck' line might explain a seasonal variation, but when it happens time and time again...

I'm not even going to comment on how far out of line those comments are. I have some really good friends here that I play with outside this league - I'll see you guys there. Consider this my last NLD.

Jeep, I was kidding about that!!!! Please don't take those comments seriously!!!!

I was commenting more on my luck, and how we've been giving you a hard time. I didn't mean anything personal AT ALL.

Some frustration on my part, sure, but what can I say, maybe Big M is right, the way I pick teams isn't working.

Please accept my apology for offending you. I wasn't trying to pick on you specifically at all.

I should have spiced in more smiley's and winks to make it more clear. My bad and I'm sorry.

The first comment was more addressed to Stoney than you. And the last comment, about being lucky to be close is actually true. We did have to get breaks to make it close. I should have saved the comments referencing you, but I was just teasing as we have over the past few days. Obviously I went too far. :(

Jet
p.s. man am I having a lousy NLD. First I tick off Big M and now Jeep and my teams all suck. :( Sorry guys for being such a schmuck.

Well, that's good to know. Thanks. (Still would like to know what you think of the trade ;) )

Jeep, I also hope you reconsider. It wouldnt' be the same without you. :(

Ratings analysis with some updated ratings versus actual numbers coming up.

Well, we managed to win a couple one runners today. I'm sure the luck went my way versus DT. Including taking Morneau out of the lineup with an injury in game one. He seems to be one of two teams we can beat, the other is Zim. Sorry guys.

BTW, I went back and looked at my Pythags, they weren't nearly as bad as I thought. I m ust have made some late runs in a couple leagues. Been awhile since I did better than the Pythag it's true, but I've only been off a game or two so.... My bad (again)
