Congrats to Big M on winning the Ring. It's Big M's fourth title tieing him with AT for the most.

Thanks guys. I liked this team from the beginning, and it never really let me down. 8-)

Joe, interesting that you mention the 4-3 Game 4 at Stoney's park. It really was the linchpin game. Thornton was a monster in relief of the great Clayton Richard. Thornton faced 11 batters in a hitless 3 inning stint, and survived 9 of the 11 rolls on the hitters' cards.

Who wants to run one more time with this set?

Congratulations to bigmahon. TBH his team was the team I thought mine would be least likely to advance against, so I was pretty (but not totally) content to have fought to a full 7 game series.

We were the Orlovskys to his Patriots Def!

Anyways I am game for another season if there is enough interest.

[quote:1d2d6c5edb="superflymacdaddyjuice"][quote:1d2d6c5edb="ArrylT"]DT is having a rough week :o

All divisions have now been officially clinched - down to Stoney & keyzick for WC and the right to face off against Jeep in the Playoffs. :o

At the rate smokee is playing I may have to name him my MVP. [/quote:1d2d6c5edb]

It was always going to be tough for AT in the playoffs. His regular season MVP was on the bench...

Good luck in the finals gentlemen.[/quote:1d2d6c5edb]

You were supposed to sneak into the playoffs like DT did!

[quote="joethejet"][quote:e1f472a33a="ArrylT"]I haven't stolen a base all year (yet) ... i wonder if that is some sort of record. ;-)[/quote:e1f472a33a]

AT, looks like you stole a base. Don't know how you're scoring any runs with no speed.

----

I didnt want to comment on this during the season but I modelled my last 2 teams off of Moneyball. 8-)

I specifically avoided players who would steal, and went mostly for players with OBP and some power, or had plenty of BP HR rolls. :)

Also, if I remember correctly, dice rolls only end up 34% of the time on pitcher cards vs. 50% on hitter cards, and the remainder are X chance rolls on def. Anyways since hitting was at a bigger premium this year than last (at least imo) I felt I could get away with much cheaper pitching since even though I did not have a great ranged OF, as my IF was pretty strong and I had very low BP Singles and few to little BP HR rolls on my pitcher cards (plus no natural HRs on my workhorse).

Anyways basically I did my best to take stolen bases, hit & runs and bunts out of the equation, and relied solely on OBP and TB/BP HR.

TBH I didnt know how it would turn out, but my offense clicked very well and moving Pujols/Ethier for Cabrera/Bruce was a great trade for me (and for Stoney as well as it turned out). Things really got better once i took Damon out of the lineup, and I would have cut him for another arm except I needed him to back up Cust and my other OFs.

Finally I was pretty lucky with injury rolls. I got 162 games out of Bruce, 144 from McDonald, and 100 from Cust (pretty much all vs RHP).

[b:1f58b74e30][u:1f58b74e30]Team Awards[/u:1f58b74e30][/b:1f58b74e30]

[b:1f58b74e30]MVP - M. Cabrera[/b:1f58b74e30]

Honestly I got really solid performances from several players but when a player wins league MVP then you gotta give him credit too. :)

[b:1f58b74e30]CY Young - U. Jimenez[/b:1f58b74e30]

No doubt about it! Almost 300 IP. 7 1/3 IP every game. Almost a K per IP.

[b:1f58b74e30]Rolaids Relief - Hensley/Robertson[/b:1f58b74e30]

Sure their ERA/WHIPs arent pretty but 260+ IP while going 20-20 and with Jimenezs IP allowed my RP to play the matchup roles they were meant for and helped the rest of my pen go 24-10.

[b:1f58b74e30]Pleasant Surprise - Varitek/Barajas Platoon[/b:1f58b74e30]

87 Runs, 52 HR & 128 RBI all for 4.84m Thats less than V. Wells and much better protection, and no defensive liability either. Hon. Mentions to Bruce and McDonald

[b:1f58b74e30]Disappointing Performance - V. Wells[/b:1f58b74e30]

TBH he was not horrible, and was a decent power threat vs. RHP. But he was the closest to a disappointment I had this season.

[b:1f58b74e30]Playoff Heros - U. Jimenez & J. McDonald

Playoff Goats - Y. Gallardo, C. Hensley & B. Phillips[/b:1f58b74e30]

Jimenez kept us in games, including a key CGSO in Game V.

McDonalds HR in Game II sent it to extra innings.

Kudos to BM on winning the critical close games. My offense sputtered at times including 17 Men LOB in those 3 1 run losses.

Gallardos crappy performance in Game III pretty much sealed the deal after the extra innings loss in Game II. I think only the loss of Gonzalez for BM allowed us the chance to get back into it, along with the aftermentioned Jimenez CGSO.
