Steroid players - anyone else share this sentiment?

I like playing the All Time Greats, but am turned off by the performances of the "Steroid Androids" - Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro, etal.

Would it be bad form to start a league that bans them? And who would you include - Clemens, A-Rod also?

Ever been attempted before?

Just musing...........

just say no players from 1990 to present unless you think a few are clean and want to make an exception.

I agree with you about players who used steroids and the era. I think your idea for a league that bans them is a good one.

It doesn't get tried to often, but from time to time.

My attititude is, I don't like the cards from the steriod players,
they have bloated stats, but the cards can't cheat any further. From
the game standpoint, the managers using them aren't cheating.

Rafeal Palmerio card is really disappointing, and, I for one,
hope they NEVER add another.

I usually self ban them, I have more than enough ATG stars to choose from without using the more famous abusers. Maybe it is self defeating, but Iwant to like my teams even if they are only imaginary.

In my limited experience so far - Barry Bonds has led in home runs (in the mid 80s) 3 out of the 4 leagues (the fourth one he had almost 100 less at-bats so he must have been injured or something, but still had 67 home runs) - so that's the reason I'm kind of turned off by him. But so too am I irked by McGwire's and Sosa's 60 plus homeruns in the various leagues. Granted it's seemingly all relative when you consider salary outlays for these guys, but being a baseball purist at heart, I just frown on seeing these "androids" distorting the game.

bonds. he was the all around best player in baseball before he tookk roids. clemens was dirty from the get go. he gained over 20 pounds his first year in college and added 10mph. big mac i don't know when he amped up. bagwell never got busted. conseco was the most honest. everything he said in his book was discovered to be true. tiger woods used roids for years which led to his erractic behavior and i believe when the pga let everyone know they would start testing led to his physical breakdowns. arod has been on them from the get go.

The only time I use them is in a plus-$100 mil franchise or alphabet league, where your choics are limited that you need them in order to compete.

I can't remember for sure but it's very likely I added around 20 lb my freshman year also. I'm not sure how many MPH that translated into. Pretty sure that I didn't take any roids, unless of course they used to put roids in Kraft Mac-n-Cheese.

I remember I did accumulate enough points off the boxes to send in for the Cheese-A-Saurus Rex shirt, but I never did. Lazy. I'll regret that to the bitter end.

thats a mother scratcher for sure. you're probably right. no doubt free ride athletes at texas colleges are forced to eat only mac and cheese and tortillas. you know how much texans hate their football and baseball, so i'm sure their all-u-can-eat cafeterias have a very limited selection. or for those of you in rio linda, that'd be a slim pickins feed trough!
