Sustainable win percentage?

Sustainable win percentage?

Postby Chuckul » Thu Jan 05, 2012 6:59 pm

Hey everybody! I used to be an avid strat guy back during the 03-05 time frame and recently just did a 2010 team. I was pretty clueless but have stumbled into a 7-2 start. I'm just curious from some people who are a little more familiar with the cards if this team is sustainable or if I'm just getting lucky. I liked most of the cards I bought for my stadium and division but still... I was pretty much just guessing.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

My first thougt is that u have spent too much on relevers. Bailey is good as a closer setup late innings etc and cud easily give u 100 innings. There is really ni need for 2 giod R2 guys. They will cancel out each others innings especially at the cost. 12 pitchers is a waste of money especially with 4 good SP*.

toronto is right about the RPs. If you are a 5-10-20 league, I would consider cashing in one of them and seeing if you could trade up on one of your IF positions.

I agree. In that park having that much $$$ tied up in relievers seems like a waste. Figuring out how many RP's you need is probably one of the hardest things to get the hang of. Also, the park dimensions offer you the opportunity to "cheat" a little by not carrying many relievers and you really have not taken advantage of this as your SP's should go longer into games when playing at home. Your relievers are lights out so far, but your offense is really pedestrian and I think you will get smoked playing in hitting parks where your relievers can only do so much if you do not score. I guess your division must be slanted toward pitching since you crafted your team in that direction, so you were successful in that respect.
Regarding sustaining your success, your pitching is really overachieving with a sub-3.00 ERA and your offense is pretty much where it should be, so when your pitching comes back to reality, so will your record. The good news is your record reflects your excellent pitching to date. Nothing worse than having great pitching like that and not having it reflected in your record.

Unless am I in some kind of theme league, I never have more than 24 players on my roster.

I have but those four cheap extra relievers have only pitched 4 innings in twelve games with mixed results.

Well, I guess it was. I won the championship in this league. It'll be nice to have the two free credits for 2011!!

Ditto on the congratulations. I am surprised you could win with that offense. Were you last in offense? No power, BA and OBP nothing to write home about with a little speed. I guess a 3.20 ERA and great "D" goes a long way! Good job.
