Now playing: The 2011 Season

[quote:2375e21948="bernieh"]Hey guys,

I don't understand why those of you in keeper leagues who already drafted some of these cards in question don't just use the set especially designed for you, that includes these few cards.

Here's the general statement about "fluke" cards: http://somonline.wikia.com/wiki/Fluke_cards. Please read it, if you haven't already.

I don't believe I've ever said anything about 110 PAs - in fact, I've specifically denied the existence of any hard limits and resist adopting any, for reasons explained at the above link.

I don't have the time to go through each case individually and explain the motivation behind them right now, but please allow us the benefit of the doubt and trust that there are good reasons.

That said, there [i:2375e21948]are[/i:2375e21948] stricter guidelines for the SP/RP's whose SP ratings we remove. They are:

- started fewer than 10 games
- threw less than 40% of their IP as a starter
- are priced at $3M+ (this part is on the flexible side)[/quote:2375e21948]

Touche

Bernie, just compare De Aza and Lawrie. They both fit the exact same profile of a late season call up and have roughly the same amount of AB's. How is Lawrie in the set and not the other. Just explain that one occurrence, and I won't speak up again.

[quote:f1a3cf9583]One example is the 2009 card of Randy Ruiz (.313/.385/.635 in 130 PA) - if we allowed him to play a full season in SOM Online, he may very well lead the league in homeruns, which is not believable by any stretch of the imagination. [/quote:f1a3cf9583]

Same goes with Giambi's card, which is somehow in the set, but Perez is not.

It looks sloppy when Lawrie's card is essentially a better hitting card that De Aza, but included. Giambi' card, almost all HR and Walks, in a hitter park can easily hit 50+ HR. That is an extreme card with limited Ab's. Same with Ike Davis vs RHP.

It really makes little sense. It's not like Parmalee, that one is understandable.

The two cards in quetion here do not seem to be borderline, thats the issue.

We're talking about a catcher with 155 PA's and a Outfilelder with over 170 pa's.

Have players with these pa numbers ever been excluded before?

Michael.

This isn't real baseball. It's fantasy.

Put them all in and price them accordingly. CAVEAT EMPTOR.

In the above example, Ruiz should be priced @ $9 million. When he goes down for 15 games, you can have $9 million on the DL. You made that decision.

Giambi makes sense. He's a hall of fame caliber vet who had a great year late in his career. He's produced at a high level for many years.

Its Perez & De Az that make no sense and should be changed, IMO.

Especially when we PAY to play the game.

I mean really...C'mon. Put them all in and give them a price.

And don't use Jimmy Rollins as a pricing guideline. $7 million for a guy with no BA/OB or SLG and who can't hit LH's?

Why in ATG 6 does Gates Brown get a card?

Yonder Alonso should be carded as well...

I would assume the difference between De Aza and Lawrie is about expectations. Lawrie is a higher end prospect anticipated to have a long career with the potential to put up big offensive numbers. De Aza is not as high end of a prospect and the offensive expectations for him don't match the card.

I was only explaining the what I think was behind the decision.
