Hey uncle,

you have your toughest decision of all your TSN-SOM career:

who will you choose to face Santana in game 3 and 7??? (don't worry, I don't expect an answer. But I do confirm to you that Santan will pitch in those games, in case you wonder... )

This decision will be a good to watch....

Actually, I like the idea of having Santana in game 3. It enables me to be aggressive with my relief for games 1 and 2 and hope that Santana will hold the fort for the entire game 3.

[quote:109864e97b="marcus wilby"]Having 5 SPs and a deep bullpen is by far the most efficient pitching set-up during the season (particularly if you play in a hitter stadium), but it's one of the least efficient pitching set-up in playoffs. It is less efficient because, with all the rest, the best relievers can pitch up to four games out of five, making thus a deep bullpen as potentially overpaid. And of course, the absence of a real *SP anchor prevents one from having some potential strong outings for games 1 and 5[/quote:109864e97b]

I LOVE RJ. But down the stretch hangin on by the skin of my teeth facing a three game series w/ him on the bench, I thought swapping him (+ Pavano) out for Schilling/Zambrano (who could go immediately) was the preferred move to get into the playoffs. But there's nothing like starting a 5 game series w/ RJ.

Spicki17 - Sorry for the delay in congratulating you on your super season. It's a heckuva group here w/ lots of experience/knowledge/strategy, and your squad was the class of the regular season. From early on I knew I'd rather be anywhere but in the West. I feel pretty lucky to have made the playoffs at all nudging out mesquiton by the skin of my you know what .

As for the finals, I'm humbled to be there and hope the boys can hold their own. My strategy in terms of SP's is simpler than most: I go w/ the best arm who's available and then see if there's a reason to change that due to matchups. In this case, that means Schilling and Zambrano will take the mound for tonight's doubleheader.

lucky--best of luck. Whoever wins, I hope it goes 6 or 7.

As much as I was positive for the first round, as much I don't have good vibes for this series. I can sense Walker and Snow getting hurt, lose both games tonight, and lose in six games.

Well, I coached awfully in this series, so far. Told you that the vibes were not good.

I forgot to change Od. Perez for Pineiro for game 4. I believe I would have better chance to win with Pineiro than with Od. Perez in game 4. I would have preferred to be 2-2 and take my chances with Greinke and Santana rather than be 1-3 and have Pineiro to face Schilling in a must win situation.

Second, I changed my stealing and my bunting management from normal to conservative, given now that I was facing uncle's #3 and #4, and given that we're now playing in his stadium instead of mine. But that was not sufficient. I should have gone into the individual ratings and prevent any attemp to steal bases or bunts. As a result, my team had FOUR---yes FOUR--runners out in game 4 as a result of pick-offs, caught stealings or squeeze attemps. This cost me at least two runs. I lost by one run.
