I asked this in the league I'm in but am looking for an answer to this question . On Billy Williams card it says he played 163 games , how could he have? This has got to be a misprint wouldnt you think ?

Williams 163 games played

Though I'm responding from memory and would want confirmation from someone with access to the Baseball Encyclopedia I do think 1969 was the year the Cubs had a make up game. That is when a game ends in a tie as long as 5 innings have been played the stats for the game are maintained and the stats for playing the game over are also included.

No playoff game for the Cubbies in 1969 - 8 behind Mets

On June 7, 1969 the Cubbies and Reds played to a 5-5 draw. Game was called due to darkness. Records counted, but makeup game was started from scratch. Thus the 163 games. If you check, you will see the Reds also played 163 games that year.

bigmahon, oh that there were a one game playoff in 1969, but seaver would have beaten them anyway. still in therapy over that summer as a 12-year old, but this set lets me relive that nightmare, and realize why the cubs lost, ernie banks sucks, and just like every cubs team before or since, they have NO obp.
