How about a real live draft?!?!

I love the concept of a live draft. But generally the execution is something else. There always seem to be snags with one or more players slowiiiiing things down to a crawl. But I have an idea. I'd like to try a draft where the 12 managers agree to be available for three hours on a given night, say a Saturday, set a 2 minute clock and then draft 15 rounds and auto draft the remainder. I can't see why that wouldn't work with the clock and everyone agreeing to be available in advance. That kind of draft would nicely mimic the real face to face live drafts that I always felt were by far the best part of the game.

Any interest?

It CAN work. We do smaller versions of what you are proposing with the Quick 6 and LAZ-Z-BOY Drafts, but we don't draft 15 rounds, and we use a 5 minute clock. 2 minute clock might be too quick, however.

Petrosian, this is a great idea and one I would be interested in. The managers in my FAST SIX draft league have gotten very good at fast drafting and things have run pretty smooth with only minor computer problems holding things up. We've gotten around that by exchanging phone numbers to keep things running smooth. I know there are others that will jump on this idea as some, like me, have become live draft addicts! They are the toughest leagues to win but the competition is fantastic and in most leagues, not too many get blown out. JOEOC's LA-Z-BOY league has had 9 managers in the running going into the last week. You should set up a signup sheet and set a date a couple of weeks in advance. Bet you get a good response! :D

I'd be interested, but it would depend on time of day. I know I could only do it at night myself.

I would think that 15 rounds would go on too long for most people, or at least too long for me.

thinking that the average pick time may be 2-3 minutes, it would take about 20-30 minutes per round. Then 6 round would be up around 2 or 2 1/2 hours. 15 rounds could be closer to 5 hours. ouch.
