i know this is going to make me seem like an idiot, but how do i check my pm's for the password, i am completely lost right now.

There are two ways. The easiest way is that you should see an envelope icon at the top left of the message board screen. Click on the envelope and it will bring up your most recent incoming PM.

A second way is also at the top left of the message board screen under the big SPORTING NEWS it should read "welcome Evil Brew". If you click on your name it will bring up your bio. On that screen click on "private message box". If you click on that it will bring up your PM inbox.
