Got our four owners. FULL, thanks

I want to say up front that I am totally committed to this league no matter what rules you end up with.

Having said that I must say that for a team that only won 88 games and barely made it to the playoffs, championship or not, the straight NFL style draft seems a bit harsh to me.( on me). Please don't take this as lobbying for my own selfish point of view, but I would like to see the serpentine style of drafting.

I must go back to my original point of view on a different thread that I am of the belief that you could run the league back exactly as it was and probably get very different results.

Would I get 45 homers out of Ed Bailey again, 46 saves from Lamp, Miller and Dreiselworth? Would Mr. Bailey get 3.45 out of Hallahan again?

Ok, let's put this to a vote, once we have the 12th owner:

NFL Draft style: 12-1, 12-1, 12-1...
OR
Serpentine Draft: 12-1, 1-12, 12-1, 1-12....

well i pick 4 i think in the draft due to last yr finish. so a improvement is def needed. with the 7 keepers saved in a 80 mil league that takes top 84 players out of play. only question is can weaker teams get better if they get the in my case 88 player then wait till #105 and so on. if answer is yes then lets do surpentine if answer is no to my scenerio and other teams worse then mine say the guy with pick 1 and the 24 then answer should be nfl. but either way im fine with both ways. bunze0 likes a challenge. haha thanx for letting me enjoy this league with you all. what i meant is some positions not so deep of a player pool so in those positions the key players will be keepers on most teams. so if our early choices in the draft are in a deep position how are we improving? in the non deep positions we may be picking nearer the end. so its a crapshoot. but again i am hip with either draft method. thanx all

In a keeper league, the NFL style gives the weaker teams a much better chance to improve and the stronger teams that much more satisfaction in being able to stay on top, IMO.

I've been pretty successful in my keeper leagues, and it definitely is more fun for me knowing that I am at a disadvantage to start the season and still being able to maintain my success. :D

First of all, this needs to be NFL style, nothing else is fair ...you say we have 7 keepers, in all honesty I can't get past finding 3 REAL keepers on my team and I'm just taking the other 4 to stay within league rules, so in my opinion the only way my team AND the incoming teams can compete is by doing the draft nfl style, cause with a "dog" of a team like this I wouldn't have agreed to take the team initially if the draft was serpentine, it was stated the draft was to be NFL style......

I know I'm new to the league, and I don't want to cause any waves, but I think we should be able to keep UP TO 7 players. I certainly can find 7 players to keep (in fact I have eight and don't know which one to drop) but if being forced to keep 7 players puts you at as much disadvantage as being able to keep ONLY seven players, I see no reason why you shouldn't keep just 4 or 5-- as long as they are declared before the season as usual.

You will still have the same number of draft rounds as everyone else, you'll just have to take your chances in the frenzy (or waivers) and on the FA list like everyone else.

You shouldn't be punished by having to keep together a team that really blew up. makes the league more competitive again if you can truly rebuild a team.

Just more in the player pool for everybody as well. :D

Just my two (euro) cents.

Hey Bobby! Basically there was a league, the guys (at least 8 of them) decided they had so much fun, they wanted to turn it into a keeper league (for at least one more season) and they advertised for 4 replacement owners for the drop-out managers' teams. Myself, Hornetsnest, and bunze0 have already decided to join and there is one team left--
http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/playoffs/team_other.html?user_id=52036&stats=sim

They went 70-92, but hey, it's a challenge! :D We are really just discussing the keeper format now, and are waiting for the 12th owner to join to finalize the format, but basically it's 80-mil, no DH and the proposed rules (subject to change based on general agreement and discussion) are--

1. Keep same divisions
2. 7 keepers (or UP TO 7 keepers, still under debate)
3. Worst to first NFL-style draft, 6 rounds (you would pick first each round)

There are some other points under debate regarding trading, mandatory keeping of keepers, etc., but that's the gist of it right now, as far as I understand. There's some more discussion and maybe some more clarification on rules in the "Replay Keeper Chat" thread in the ILC forum.

I know you love a challenge! What do you say? C'mon and join the fun! I'll bring you a beer in Vegas (a real one) if you sign up. :D
