You pretty much nailed that one, Chris. The guitar styling is slightly different, but otherwise the song and its implementation was like hearing a resurrection of SRV. Closest I ever heard anyone get to that was Ian Moore, a Stevie Ray protege, in Texas clubs before he started making records.
Much improved vocals, BTW -- reminded me of early Billy Gibbons (without the Texas twang) in pitch and texture. I think you can pull even more emotion out of your voice, but this was rock solid -- a big gain in a short time.
