My first Wrigley team. Pitching problems.

This is my first Wrigley team and last night I did a bit of an overhaul of my pitching staff. I now have Izzy as closer and Kolb as set up man. How can I ensure I get the most from these two and that HAL will bring Izzy in to close, rather than Fuentes as he did a couple of games ago? Presently I have Kolb as Set Up both sides in my manager strategy and Izzy as Closer both ways.

Also, does anyone have an idea how I can get Manny going? I have him hitting 4th behind Bagwell vs Righties and Saenz vs LHP. Presently he is hitting .236 although he does have 13 homers and 37R RBI but this is less than Rowand so far. Is he best in #4 hole? I presume he is with his figures.

As ever, any help would be very gratefully received.

I would actually have Burba set-up Izzy and then have Izzy as set-up and closer vs. lefties.

You mean Burba set up Izzy vs Lhb? What would I do with Kolb? Leave him to HAL and hope he puts him in sensibly?

Setting up pitching is just so hard for me to get my head round. Are there any basic rules I have been overlooking?

Set-up vs Righties: Burba
Set-up vs. Lefties: Izzy

Izzy close BOTH ways.

Sorry about that. I meant to say righties for Burba but messed up. Any particular reason Burba and not Kolb as set up? Their numbers vs RHB are pretty similar. I just had Kolb as SU as he had a good all round card.

Would this happen? Would Burba, say, come in as SU and face a couple of righties then be pulled for Izzy to face LHB? What happens if some more righties appeared?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Because of Burba's closer rating compared to Izzy's, HAL will use Izzy over Burba if it's a closer situation.

If you use Kolb to set-up, HAL "could" keep him in there because both he and Izzy are C6's.

btw- Next time you use Wrigley...

Hermannson, Sosa and R. Ortiz are good, cheap Wrigley pitchers.

With regards to ManRam, I'd bat him 4th or 5th.

Bagwell is NOT a no. 3 hitter. Your best pure hitter is Mora. He's your no. 3 hitter.

Giles isn't a good Wrigley lefty.

I see no clear lead-off guy to set the table for your middle lineup guys.

What exactly are your lineups?

Isringhausen is a great closer in Wrigley, but do you want to spend $5m on a closer who is likely to give you 50 or 60 innings pitched in a 162 game season? I think not.

Kolb is also a very good closer in Wrigley. In my opinion, you probably want a set up man who can go at least two innings. Guys like Mendoza or Madson are good RH set up men in Wrigley.

I agree with the comment made earlier that Giles in RF is not well suited to Wrigley.

Just my opinion...
