Bobby's "Beat Munich_Man's Best" challenge League

Postby Munich_Man » Thu Oct 06, 2005 1:41 am

Since I won the Bragging Rights League, Bobby decided to try to have me taken down a few pegs. His idea is to have me post my best team (record-wise) and welcome 11 other managers to try to beat it.

This is Bobby's league, so I'll let him supply the details as far as eligibility, divisional placement, etc. but it will be an $80mil, noDH league, and I will not be allowed to make any changes to the team for the duration of the season.

Here's the team. A 107-win, semi-final loser from the Good People Tourney--

This was Bobby's idea. :D

I do like trying different crazy stuff, though. Chief Wahoo (now muttdoc) is the king of the crazy team themes. 8)

It's fun to do teams/leagues with a twist. I've done all switch-hitting teams with all "E" rated pitchers, another league with a player representing each letter of the alphabet, a Salary Cap Challenge league where myself and three other (at the time) .550+ win% managers had $70mil to spend, four .500-.549 win% teams had $80 Mil to spend and four below .500 % teams had $90 mil to spend, the recent "Are you better than HAL" league, where 12 of us had two identical teams in two different leagues. in one we left all settings, lineups, rotations etc. up to HAL while in the other we managed like normal. That was fun.

The great thing about ATGII, with the huge player pool is the nearly endless variety of themes you can come up with. I can't wait until they (hopefully) come out with ATGIII.

Bring it on, Douggie boy!

The two H2H that I know of for sure were in the Naturals League-- you took first with 90 wins to my 2nd with 86 and the following season I took 1st with 88 to your 3rd with 80.

Have to check if we ever were in the same division for Barnstormers or MGR of the Year tourney...

Of course, in this league you know exactly what team you'll be facing. I suppose you would need some sort of advantage. :P

As an added incentive, anyone in the league who has a better record than I, who happens to be in Vegas next month, gets a Paulaner [i:7c546cbedc]Oktoberfestbier[/i:7c546cbedc].

Sure hope I dont have to tote 11 beers around with me!

Hope I'm not stealing your thunder here, but I have to do SOMETHING while I'm at work and all you guys are still asleep. Didn't want to jump the gun.

So far we have the following interested parties---

1. Munich Man
2. Bobby (I assume)
3. Ed Bazo
4. Penngray (if I get to kick his äss directly :) )
5. Grindi (also wants a direct äss-whuppin  )
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.
11.
12.

Nev, muttdoc, and TimO have posted in the thread, but not committed.

It's already a great league!!

Can I get a piece of this action? I want in the same div with both of you. I don't have a clue what my H2Hs are. I know Rick has to have an advantage after the HAL leagues though.
