HAPPY FRIDAY! RANK TOUGHEST PLAYERS TO GET IN DRAFT....

Postby Ruths ruffians » Fri Oct 07, 2005 12:52 pm

I posted this type of thread before but I am toying with the idea of buying a team with a little more hitting and I want to get some feedback from Strato buds to refresh my memory of who are the guys that are toughest to get. Thanks in advance.............

to me, they are (hitters anyway)

Mays
Collins (2b)
Cobb
Fox
Banks
Hornsby

I used to think Carter, but have been getting him alot lately.....

I will note that I think it is getting easier to get the good hitters in general, as I notice a big trend towards "pitching Park" teams.....the 5 guys above excluded of course... :)

I really only have a problem getting Cobb and Mays. If you miss Cobb, you get Furillo, everytime, and that is a HUGE drop from a #1 pick. If you miss Mays, there too can be a HUGE penalty, dropping all the way to Combs. So again, waste of a #1 pick.

Good, safe bet at #1 is Banks. Ya might miss him, but chances are, you either end up with Wagner or Trammell. Both not quite a #1 guy, but both VERY usuable.

Gary Carter, with LUCK, can be had with a 3 or 4 pick

Fox, he too, can be had from 3-4

umm, who else was there, oh ya, Hornsby, ya miss him, its ALL the way down to McAuliffe.

Hitting team wise, not quite a Fenway 67 team, but lets say 15s for BP Homers, I like Mays, Alou, Jackson in the OF. Gordon at 2nd, Don Money at 1b, with Belardi as his back up, Wagner or Trammell at SS, with Crosetti as Inj repl. for Wagner (he is "N" power). 3b, well, thats upto whatever you can find. Boggs, Boyer, both are fine, I guess, just not real excited about anybody at 3rd. Cather, I like Sanquillen, umm, May, Hegan, they all have there place

Being hard to get is relative to where you are going to put them on your draft card. When I think hard to get I think of players who if you do not place first you have no chance of getting. There are always exceptions, but overall you have to list the following guys first if you want to get them:

Mays
Cobb
E. Collins
Banks

The next set can be put 2nd, but you may still get burned:

Snider
Yaz
Cuyler
Musial
Al Simmons
Yount
Speaker
Aaron
Ozzie
