Shoot. Clemens is a gd Blue Jay according to the league rules (speaking of, I'd have been better of taking the Blue Jays I think).
So, lemme get this straight: Toronto has the rights to draft Clemens in the AD. But it can use any version of Clemens? I ask because of this:
[quote:5801208268]4. For players with cards on multiple teams (i.e. Greg Maddux), the Auto drafting rights always go to the team with the higher dollar card. So if both the Cubs exp and ATL exp are selected, the manager who selected ATL (where Maddux has a higher dollar card) gets rights to him in the auto draft. If the ATL exp manager does not auto draft Maddux, the Cubs exp team can pick him up out of the free agent pool after the auto draft. If no manager selects ATL exp as one of the 24 selected exp teams, and a manager selected the Cubs exp.. the manager with Cubs exp would have exclusive rights to Maddux because he can only play for either the Cubs or Braves.
5. You can use any EXP era version of a player you have rights to. So if the A's get Willie Randolph because the Yankees go with Cano at 2b, and do not auto draft him, the A's can use the higher dollar versions of Randolph from his Yankee days. [/quote:5801208268]
Shouldn't a team be forced to use the players that are carded for their teams during the AD phase? I understand having some flexibility afterward, but it seems unfair that the Jays could autodraft a cheaper version of Clemens, simply based on the fact that they have the highest rated year. You run into the same thing with Pedro and Montreal. The Expos can draft Pedro, but can take one of his cheaper cards.
(P.S. Sorry I did not catch this earlier -- and I won't bail out, having signed on already--just strikes me as an unfair advantage)
