I felt confident enough in my "emphatic assertion" to try to not hide behind the word "possible". 8)

I also think that SOM showed more of an unwillingness last year to assign R2 status to the pure closers as they had the year before with Gagne, Benitez, Lidge, etc. despite the Valverde R2 card (who incedently did not become the closer until MUCH later in the year than Putz did this year).

Plus 2 of Putz' 3 two inning nights occured before he had been made the full-time closer, and since then the longest he has gone (besides the other 2 inning night) has been 1.1 IP, and he has several appearances of less than an inning, so before it's all said and done he should be very close to an inning per appearance.

Finally though, who really cares since the comment that sparked this silly debate (I was only trying to have some fun), was for a trade that happened in a DIFFERENT LEAGUE!!! :P :P :P

BTW - Gomes and Utley have been benched. As is often the case with talented young players, their work habits have been sub-par lately. Maybe "riding the pines" will improve their efforts. Neither are on the block as of yet...

Since a current deal I had on the table for him is likely to not go through, I will be taking offers for Berkman from interested parties. Depending on the team record at 40-gm mark I'll decide to deal him now or wait until end of current season....

Btw, due to a lack of depth in 2Bs I will have to shuttle Maicer Izturiz back and forth when Kennedy is injures. The transactions are not for Matching purposes. If there's a problem with the Maicer Shuttle let me know and I'll figure out a way for hm to be in the 25 roster always.

As I stated last season, I have no problems with that whatsoever. The Yankees used to operate the Columbus shuttle a lot back in the Billy Martin years (since he was so hard on his pitchers).

Instead of a number of waivers allowed we have an eventual salary restriction to mirror that.
