The new key to winning?

The new key to winning?

Postby PJ Axelsson » Wed Dec 07, 2005 9:18 am

There are a lot of managers here that know how to assemble a winning team. I've recently become of the opinion that being online 24/7 is the new key to assembling a winning team.

It used to be that if you could be up all night hitting F5, you'd likely score some good players at the frenzy. Now, the waivers system and timed frenzies at midnight have evened the playing field, which is good. However, I have noticed (without naming names) that certain owners seem to always be online and if you view the transactions lists, they always are able to get the key drop first. This is the new edge, and it drives me nuts to go to bed at 11pm and wake up and see that the player I wanted was dropped and snagged before 6am, and that when I leave work at 5:30, the same thing happens before I get home.

I need to quit my job and handcuff myself to this computer and then I'll be invincible!

My job has me attached to the PC full time, and it hasn't got me any ATG jewelry so far.

I did get lucky and snag Banks the night before the season started this weekend, so it didn't hurt to have the PC on Konstantly

The most important time is the first 24 hours after the waiver draft. So many good players come and go in that period. It settles after everyone has seen their squad, but this usually takes a day, in my opinion.

Then, you do a live draft, and you'll be lucky to get 4 players from your killer autodraft team, waiver or frenzy.

Want to test your skills, go live.

Well said PJ!

And I would hazzard to guess that these same owners (without naming names) are also the ones who are cosistently posting self-congratulatory accolades proclaiming their skills?

I certainly am not upset or holding a bitter feeling about this, it's just an observation I wanted to share. The frustration comes from missing my guys, not because someone else got them, and there is a difference (to me).

Maybe I'm just too fine tuned and need to stop thinking that the key to winning will be picking up Matty Alou, and Kiddo Davis won't cut it as a backup...
