I did indeed go through the boxscores, counting at bats and hits for both righties and lefties. It was quite laborious but paid off in terms of the results. In fact, it really made my season. My other three starters were solid, and with the addition of Stieb, my four-man rotation was able to carry a team with lackluster offense to a Series crown. Stieb was 2-0 in the playoffs, with an ERA of 2.25.
It's probably only really worth while to comb through boxscores like that in a case like Stieb's, where the one bad year has a significantly different platoon differential from the other years. My theory was that a 6R vs (on average) 2L+ platoon was going to show up even in a six game sample--the number of games he'd pitched for the other team. :wink:
