What's your Favorite non-online Strat card ever???

I think they left Mossi off b/c he was just too good and they were concerned about competitive balance. Interestingly, Dale Mitchell was in ATGI but when they started ATGII, they took him away. I guess with the new DH rule, they felt his card was too good for the money as he would be an awesome DH in a platoon.

The Sarmiento one got my attention My cousins and I rotated around for 2 years playing complete seasons Then worked on Stats Sarmiento pitched 42 innings ERA 0.00 2 unearned runs :P

Anyone remember Julian Navarro from the 1970 Braves?

24 innings, 4.15 era, extra player gave up 7 homers I believe.

He had a 4-4, 4-5, 4-6 homerun. Arguably the worst strat pitching card of all time. They must have all been solo shots for him to have that low of an era or they made lots of errors before the bombs?

Or perhaps the 1930 Claude Willoughby card for all time worst?

A friend of mine used all the oldtimer cards including the hall of fame set as well as teams from 1963 - 1970 and played over the line. In this game the offense could pick their pitcher who would allow them to hit off their cards.

The choice without exception was Claude Raymond of the 1963 Braves.

1977 was my first and still favorite strat set, see alot of those guys mentioned here. morgan, stargell, VALENTINE, were huge, but my all-time favorite from that set was cliff johnson. absolutely devoured lh pitching. used to joke that he was in the dugout with a webber grill, a bar-b-que smock with juice all over it, just waiting for a lefty to be summoned from the pen, half the time he'd still have that apron on when he blasted a pinch homer. 1956 was the first old-timers set they printed...mantle was out of this world as a triple crown winner. if you want to see a horrid pitching card, tommy lasorda actually got a card that year I think. phew. one of the great hidden reliever cards was rob murphy of the reds in the 1986 set. just 50 ip, but enough to get a card, and completely strangled lh batters, not one hit. kal daniels on that team was also a terror, one sided against rh pitching.

could go on and on, but orel's 1985a card when he went a staggering 19-3 was actually better than the '88 card. incredible whip/ratio, only 8-hra, and all those gb's.

2 worst basic game P cards I remember Vinegar Bend Mizell 62 Mets and Larry Jaster 69 Expos Hitting Basic best or most asbsurb some 2B from San Diego over 400 avg in about 30 AB Name started with an A I remember but I never heard of him again Luis Medina had a wild one for HR one yr for Cleveland :twisted:

Luis Tiant's 68 Card: 21-8 1.60 ERA
Hank Aaron's 73 Card: The defense was gone, but HRs were 26/106 available--hit 40 HRs in 400 ABs that year
Buzz Capra 74 Card: 2.28 ERA (won the ERA title): NO HITS on his card for righties. zip, zero, none.
George Sisler's 1920 ST. Lious Brown Card: killer
The 67 or 68 entire White Sox staff: whole staff was great, best modern era team era.
Lou Boudreau .355 1948 Indians. SS who can flat out hit.
