Ok well Dennis is at least level headed and sensible, while articulating his thoughts and views well. He should be the spokesperson for the rest of those (rmilter) who feel the way he does.
Free Radicals also does his best to make the point, He mentioned that he was anal about stats at the end. LOL, I can so relate to that. I have always loved stats. Used to track all the strato stats I played when I was little on the board game on accounting ledger paper my dad would bring home from work for me. Whole seasons... lol.
As far as rmilter goes..... lol I think his last post pretty much sums up him.
I think my feelings come from several online gaming communities I have been apart of where people who are using their site for their enjoyment to meet up with players all over the world would continually b$%^& about the poor site quality, management of the site, technical aspects of the site, but yet keep playing their because its all they had. In each one of those communities they slowly faded away and most of them died, I find myself not playing the games anymore.
Now I find SOM online, fall in love with it again. I really think they do a great job with the gaming platform, etc. Sure I wish Hal would do a little better job executing my strategies, but hey this is pretty damn fun and good, when considering the alternatives. I happen to come at a time when they are just ending a promotion where they are running a season for free. GRREEEAATT deal to me, get to play it for free??? Nice, the time I spent studying the players and preparing for a draft is what I consider fun and would have done it even if this team not even counted at all to my manager ratings.
Then as I try to blend in with the community I relatively quick see how there is a run of protests about how people are getting screwed because they only had 5 free teams count to their ratings!! lol, if you put yourselves in my shoes think of how that sounds. Pretty soon I start thinking man, here we go again - another site, more players b#$%&ing until they ruin it and then they have nothing. If you want to attract more people to this game, I'm saying have fun with it and let new players see your enthusiam for it and the site making it possible for you to play it. New players will caught up with that kind of enthusiam, they will not be interested in purchasing teams and getting more involved if they think current players thinks its ripping them off.
As far as rmilter goes, anyone hoping to draw more interest from new players, and then berates them is not the recipe for success.
I can totally respect the way Dennis tries to explain it. I don't see it that way, and maybe its just me, but never would no matter how long I played, however, its the better way to say it.
Good Luck all!
