[quote:727480fb15]Strat's individual player ratings are often adjusted to increase the statistical accuracy of an actual season replay. In other words, if making Derek Jeter a three like he should be is going to cost the Yankees 7 or 8 wins in a replay because their pitching is so bad then he will remain a two, like he has. Hope that helps explain some of the unjustified ratings.[/quote:727480fb15]
This is somewhat correct: the final results of a full defense (pitching + defense) will equal correct projections in the standard replay environment. However, you're drawing the wrong conclusion about why ratings are wrong. They're wrong because HAL perceives them incorrectly. If he gives McLouth the 3 in centerfield that he deserves, that simply means he has to adjust each Pittsburgh pitcher to have better results on pitching rolls (non X results). His replay projections would still come out just fine.
Giving all the Philly fielders amazing ratings isn't favoritism--it just means that the Philly pitchers' cards will not be as strong as they otherwise would be if the fielders had worse ratings because they have to take on more of the "hit" results for correct projection's sake.
