World Baseball Classic - USA and North America in playoffs

Keyzick,
Your Tarps team has been hit hard by injuries. And your pitching staff does look strong, maybe they will come around.

I am using McLouth in one of my leagues, and I am hoping for a lot more out of him than he has given me.

Japan and Korea

Postby The Biomechanical Man » Mon Mar 23, 2009 7:26 pm

Well, it was hard watching Japan beat USA on ESPN last night. Actually, it was hard LISTENING to Steve Phillips, Joe Morgan, and Jon Miller tell us inning-after-inning how the USA didn't put their best players on the roster, and that the manager and players were not trying their hardest to win. They said that many of the players (and their employers) were focused on a "World Championship" (i.e. MLB World Series), and not this "exhibition." Then they said that the people who came to the games to root for the USA were essentially being snookered by sub-par roster and effort. Inning after inning, I felt [i:0201120990]used[/i:0201120990]. :?

Coincidentally, Team World (Japan, Korea, and friends) are now coming on strong in our simulated WBC.

It looks like Areo Dave and his team are representing for their country. Nice work Aero Dave, I would expect no less from a Cleveland fan.

I'm the guy who had the last pick of the team draft and got the North America team by default. I wasn't too upset because the team had an upside. The Central American catchers were by far the best. Soto, Martin, and the Molinas are all on my roster.....and ironically, they are all sucking! I'm just happy to be at 22-26 at this point.

Poor Wock and his Dominicans....I don't know how he can turn that bunch around. His starters........are as bad as their salaries!

The regular season just ended, and the 12th picked team (ehlekev's Team North America) eeked past the 1st picked team (my Team USA 5) for the Wild Card spot. The WBC playoffs being on Monday, with three USA teams joining Team North America.

Well, my North American team has been living on borrowed time. Jack's 104-58 (yes, I said it right....104-58) USA #6 team is our first round foe. I have Harden throwing in Game #3. I believe he is my only chance not to get swept by a team who ended up 18 games ahead of mine in the regular season.

Jack has coached brilliantly all season. It will be an honor to lose to such a dominant ballclub in teh first round.

Thanks for the props, Kev but...

...we all know that 100 wins equals a guaranteed first round playoff loss. I'd be feeling confident if I were you.

USA! USA! USA!

Sorry, Jack, but your team was better than you thought. Team USA 6 outlasted Team North America in the semis, and will face another USA team in the finals.
